John Jones – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 03, 2024 following a call for service regarding the motor vehicle.

On November 03, 2024, at approximately 4:12 pm, officers responded to a call for service on Ski Hill Road just south of Omemee. A traffic stop was completed and officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.

John Jones, 82-year-old of Scarborough, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

Henry Oppers – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 01, 2024 following an interaction during a RIDE program.

On November 01, 2024, at approximately 10:30 pm, while conducting a RIDE program a motor vehicle entered into the RIDE at Hwy 35 near Towers Road and an impaired driving investigation commenced.

Henry Oppers, 76-year-old of Janetville, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police – Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Kawartha Lakes Police Service – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP K9 executed a section 11 CDSA Search Warrant on a residential property in the Town of Lindsay. As a result of the warrant a quantity of crack cocaine, fentanyl, proceeds of crime, indicia of drug trafficking and a stolen Toronto Firefighter badge was seized.

The following have been arrested and charged:

Matthew RUTTAN, 44 years of age, of Lindsay was charged with:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

Braydon MISANCHUK, 23 years of age, of Lindsay was charged with:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 x2

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

Both accused were held for a Bail Hearing with the Ontario Court of Justice.

Wolfgang Weber – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint last night at approximately 8:00p.m. for a vehicle that was traveling northbound on County Road 36.

Officers located the vehicle in the ditch on Height Roads, just off County Road 36. The driver suffered no injuries.

Officers received additional information and after speaking with the driver, Officers entered an impaired investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 59-year-old, Wolfgang Weber from Minden was arrested and charged with

–      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into two separate impaired driving investigations on October 26, 2024, and October 27, 2024.

On October 26, 2024, at approximately 8:55 p.m., officers responded to Need Street, Bobcaygeon, for a report of a possible impaired driver. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. Through investigation the driver was believed to be impaired, however, refused to complete the testing.

Howard NEWHOOK, 68-year-old of Bobcaygeon, was charged with:

  • Failure or Refusal to comply with demand

On October 27, 2024, at approximately 2:35 a.m. officers responded to County Road 8, Verulam Township, for a report of a possible impaired driver. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving Offences.

Tye WINTELS, 22-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. Both motor vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

Gary CARMICHAEL – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on October 9, 2024, following a traffic complaint in Mariposa Township.

On October 9, 2024, at approximately 2:03 p.m., officers responded to Grant Drive, Mariposa Township, for a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. Through investigation the driver was arrested for Impaired Driving Offences.  

Gary CARMICHAEL, 69-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

Whitney GALLANT – Drunk Driving Etc.

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on October 4, 2024, following a single motor vehicle collision in Mariposa Township.

On October 4, 2024, at approximately 3:57 p.m., officers responded to Port Hoover Road, Mariposa Township, for a single motor vehicle collision along with members from Kawartha Lakes Fire Service and Kawartha Lakes Paramedics. The driver was not injured and through investigation was arrested for impaired driving offences.

Whitney GALLANT, 37-year-old of Little Britain, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to stop

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Robin Crate – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) -Traffic complaint leads to one impaired driver removed from the road.

On September 27th, 2024, at 6:00p.m Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of a vehicle driving through a closed gate on County Road 121.

Officers arrived on scene and located the driver asleep behind the wheel.

57-year-old, Robin Crate from Georgina was arrested and charged with

–      Operation while impaired

–      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Michael Lamb – Impaired Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – A local resident was arrested and charged for operation while impaired and additional charges.

On September 27th, 2024, at 4:30p.m Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling Sturgeon Road.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor-vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed.

After speaking with the driver, officers entered an investigation for operation while impaired.

As a result, 39-year-old, Michael Lamb from Dunsford was arrested and charged for

-operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

-possession of a schedule l substance- other drugs

– drive motor vehicle- perform stunt

– fail to surrender insurance card

-driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

In addition to the charges the drivers received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

One Airlifted, One Arrested For Hit & Run

On September 28, at approximately 11:00am, members of City of Kawartha Lakes OPP with assistance from MTO and EMS responded to a report of a serious collision with one bicycle and commercial vehicle on Highway 35 and Wrenhaven road.

The commercial vehicle failed to remain on scene. A passer by located the male and contacted the police.

As a result of the collision, 60-year-old male operating the bicycle was airlifted by ORNGE to a hospital for life threatening injuries.

Highway 35 and Wrenhaven road was closed for several hours but has since been reopened.

As a result, 35-year-old Christopher Craig from Fenelon Falls was arrested and charged with

-fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm

– fail to leave one meter while passing bicycle

The accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Connor Mehnert – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on September 22, 2024.

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 00:56 a.m., officers conduced a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Country Road 36 near Gil-Mar Road. Through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences.

Connor Mehnert, 20-year-old of Dunsford, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Young Driver – BAC above zero
  • Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Allan MACDONALD – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on September 19, 2024, after a motor vehicle was reported as being in the ditch.

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 8:37 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle located in the ditch on Simcoe Street, Mariposa Township. Upon arrival officers confirmed there were no injuries and through investigation a driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Allan MACDONALD, 67-year-old of Woodville, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

David Palmer – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on County Road 8, Fenelon Township.

On September 18, 2024, at 11:07 p.m., officers conducted a RIDE Program on County Road 8 in Fenelon Township. A motor vehicle approached the officers conducting the program where an odor of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

David Palmer, 59-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Stephaine THOMAS Was Arrested Again

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – One arrested during a RIDE program for drug related offences and additional charges.

On September 18th, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 35.

Officers briefly spoke to the driver of the vehicle before asking them to pull over to the shoulder for further investigation.

The driver couldn’t provide the Officer with proper documentation for operating a motor vehicle.

After further investigation, it was found that the driver was suspended from operating a motor vehicle and was on conditions by the courts.  

Officers seized suspected 3 g of crack cocaine from the vehicle.

37-year-old Stephaine THOMAS from Lindsay was arrested and charged with

–      Possession of a schedule l substance – Cocaine

–      Failure to comply with release order

–      Failure to comply with release order

–      Driving while under suspension

The accused was transported by Officers and held for bail.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest of a wanted individual and laid charges in relation to drugs.

On Saturday, September 14th  at approximately 12:30p.m. Officers were conducting a RIDE program on King’s Wharf .

A vehicle entered the RIDE program and was conducted to pull off to the shoulder for further investigation.

Officers recognized the male passenger, who was wanted on several warrants.

After further investigation, Officers entered a drug trafficking investigation where the following suspected drugs were seized

  • 9 tablets of Clonazeram,
  • 3.5g of Fentanyl,
  • 30.8 g of Cocaine,
  • 2.4 g of Crack cocaine ,
  • 7 tablets Oxycodone,
  • 9 tablets Clonazepam,
  • 5 tablets of Fentanyl

Along with other Opioid substance and $3425.00 CAD cash.

As a result, the driver, 42-year-old Aliza Hotchkins from City of Kawartha Lakes was arrested and charged with

–      Possession of schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid

–      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

–      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

–      Fail to surrender insurance card

They were released from custody with conditions and will appear in court at a later date.

The male passenger, 43-year-old, Adam Hughes from City of Kawartha Lakes was arrested and charged for  

–      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid

–      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was transported by Officers and held for bailed.
