21 Year Old Arrested For Alcohol Theft

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrest a suspect in relation to a $6,100 theft of alcohol. Two suspect still outstanding.

On May 13, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a theft in progress at a local business in Elora on Metcalfe Street & Water Street East, involving three suspects actively stealing numerous bottles of premium alcohol from the back room of the business, with no regard to the business, the employees or customers inside.

At 7:02 p.m. Wellington County OPP arrived on scene and observed three suspects fleeing the area. A foot pursuit ensued, and one suspect was arrested without incident, and subsequently recovering the stolen alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Alexandru POPESCU, 21-year-old from Markham is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Theft Over $5,000

The accused remains in custody, pending a bail hearing.

Two other suspects are still outstanding. The Wellington OPP is requesting the public to check their dashcam / CCTV footage between the hours of 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on May 13, 2025, on Metcalfe Street or Water Street East, Elora, in the hopes of capturing the identity of the two remaining suspects and/or their motor vehicle licence plate.

Another From Fergus Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On May 11, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a motor vehicle on St. Andrew Street East in Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, Dana Christine DOCHINE, 50-years-old of Fergus, was charged with:

– Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on May 20, 2025.

41 Year Old From Fergus Arrested

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – On May 9, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Sideroad 19 at Beatty Line in Fergus.

During the operation, officers observed a vehicle make a U-turn as it approached the RIDE check. Police stopped the vehicle a short distance away. 

As a result of the investigation, Joaquim DASILVA 41-year-old of Fergus, was charged with:

– Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on May 20, 2025.

$10,000 Drug Bust

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – A traffic stop conducted by the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) results in the seizure of approximately $10,000 worth of illegal drugs and offence-related property. Two individuals have been arrested, and several charges have been laid.

On May 8, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Second Line near Tower Street South in Fergus. The traffic stop resulted in two individuals being taken into custody without incident. Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, hydromorphone, cash, and other offence-related property.

The estimated street value of the illicit drugs is approximately $8,800.

As a result of the investigation, Kemo CAMARA, 24-year-old of Kitchener, has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (three counts)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Breach of Recognizance

Juwan OSEI, 27-year-old of Brampton, has been arrested and charged with,

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (three counts)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on June 6, 2025.

23 Year Old Arrested – Details Released

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Fergus resident with stunt driving.

On May 6, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were conducting proactive traffic enforcement and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, which led to a traffic stop being initiated on Bridge Street within Elora, Centre Wellington Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old from Fergus is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

Anyone charged with drive motor vehicle – perform stunt receives a 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph, at a later date.

Temitope ALLI Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Fergus resident criminally, stemming from a RIDE program.

On May 4, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were conducting a proactive ‘Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere” (RIDE) program on Scotland Street within the Town of Fergus, when they initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle to determine sobriety.

As a result of the investigation, Temitope ALLI, a 39-year-old of Fergus is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on May 13, 2025.

Spousal Asault – 2 Arrested

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges two individuals with a total of four criminal charges in relation to an intimate partner violence investigation.

On April 28, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at an address in Fergus.

As a result of the investigation:

A 39-year-old of Centre Wellington Township is charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

  • Assault – spousal
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Additionally, a 38-year-old of Fergus is charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Jennifer DEAN – Sexual Assault

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recently laid charges in relation to a sexual assault investigation. On May 2, 2024, the Wellington County OPP began an investigation into a report of a sexual offence that occurred between an employee and a young person at a community living residence on Irvine Street, Centre Wellington.    

As a result of the investigation, on April 9, 2025, Jennifer DEAN, 24 years old of Rockwood was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·        Sexual Interference

·        Sexual Exploitation

·        Sexual Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice in Guelph on May 13, 2025.

Benjamin PILUK – Drunk Driving

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Fergus resident with several offences in relation to an impaired driving investigation.

On March 28, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle driving in an erratic manner. Officers arrived in the area, located the motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Rea Drive in Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, Benjamin PILUK, a 34-year-old of Fergus is charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operate Motor Vehicle-no insurance
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with open container of liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on April 11, 2025.

2 Arrested For Theft

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrest and charge two suspects in relation to a shoplifting investigation. 

On March 24, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of an in-progress theft at a local retailer on St David Street North within the Town of Fergus. It was reported that two individuals were attempting to shoplift approximately over $1,300 worth of items with no attempt to pay and proceeded to flee the area when police arrived. Both individuals were located and arrested without incident.

James IRONSIDE, 32-year-old of Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Theft under $5000 – Shoplifting
  • Unlawfully in dwelling house

The accused has been released form custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on April 29, 2025.

Jules RODRIGUES, 27-year-old of Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Theft under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused has been released form custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on May 2, 2025.

Sexual Assault – Charles NDEGWE Arrested

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual in relation to a sexual assault investigation in Fergus.

On September 13, 2024, members of the Wellington County Crime Unit launched an investigation after receiving information of a sexual assault in the Town of Fergus.

On March 6, 2025, the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit arrested and charged Charles NDEGWE, a 50-year-old of Fergus, with sexual assault.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on April 11, 2025.

There is no statute of limitations on sexual offences and a report can be made to police at any time, regardless of how much time has passed. On March 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were conducting proactive “Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere” (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road within Fergus, when they initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle to determine sobriety.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher HASSELL, a 49-year-old of Centre Wellington Township is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Unmarked cigarettes
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on April 1, 2025.

Paul BECK – Drunk Driving

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrest a St. Clements resident for impaired driving, after conducting a traffic stop.

On March 15, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP conducted a traffic stop on Wellington Road 7 within the Township of Centre Wellington.

As a result, Paul BECK, a 62-year-old of St. Clements was charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Robert William Dunlop – Drunk Driving

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – On March 9, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Edinburgh Avenue in Fergus.

During the operation, a passenger van entered the RIDE program. As a result of the investigation, Robert William Dunlop, 63-years-old from Fergus, was charged with:

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on March 18, 2025.
