(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A Guelph driver has been arrested after going through a Festive RIDE Program in Fergus.
On December 3, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting a Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program at Orangeville Road and Scotland Street in Fergus, when they suspected an individual to be behind the wheel while impaired.
As a result of the investigation, Nicola DICKSON, a 56-year-old from Guelph, is charged under the Criminal Code, Cannabis Control Act and theTobacco Tax Act with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Have care or control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Possess unmarked cigarettes
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on January 6, 2025.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The Wellington County OPP remains committed to protecting Wellington Roads from alcohol and drug impaired drivers. Wellington County community members are encouraged to do their part this season – never drive after drinking or using drugs, and step in if someone else is about to get behind the wheel while impaired.
