Barkomal UPPAL – Drunk Driving, Hit & Run

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a single motor vehicle collision with impaired operation.

On July 14, 2024, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Old School Road, near Kennedy Road, in the Town of Caledon. No injuries were reported. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Barkomal UPPAL, 31, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Fail to remain

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 8, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers with impaired operation in a single day.

On July 8, 2024, just before 9:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Valley Grove Court, in the Town of Caledon. No injuries were reported. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that one of the drivers’ ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Desmond FRANCIS, 48, of Kitchener, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appears at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 25, 2024, to answer to the charge. The driver’s licence was also suspended for a period of 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

On the same day, just before 7:30 p.m., officers were conducting a R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check on McLaughlin Road, near Tim Manley Avenue. At that time, a vehicle entered the area. During the interactions officers had with the driver, grounds were formed that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, HARPREET SINGH, 25, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Drive while under suspension 

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a total of 884 charges over the Canada Day week.

Between June 21 and July 2, 2024, Caledon OPP have laid a total of 884 charges, including 265 speeding, 140 improper use of seat belts, 10 distracted driving, 9 stunt driving, and 15 impaired driving. Of those 15, seven were this past long weekend when officers formed grounds that the drivers had abilities that were impaired by alcohol, leading to arrests and charges. They include:

June 28, 2024, just before 6:00 p.m.

• Three-vehicle collision on Mississauga Road, near The Grange Sideroad

• No injuries

• Jeyakavin JEYARANJAN, 24, of Brampton, was charged with:

o Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

June 28, 2024, just after 8:30 p.m.

• Traffic complaint on Mayfield Road, near Chinguacousy Road

• David NITHIYAPALAN, 48, of Brampton, was charged with:

o Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

June 29, 2024, just after 6:00 p.m.

• Five-vehicle collision on Highway 50, near McEwan Drive

• No injuries

• Stephanie MOHAMMED, 25, of Brampton, was changed with:

o Operation while impaired – alcohol 

o Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

o Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

June 29, 2024, just before 11:00 p.m.

• Traffic stop on Bramalea Road, near Old School Road

• Virpartap PUNIA, 28, of Brampton, was charged with:

o Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

o Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

June 30, 2024, just after 1:00 a.m.

• Single motor-vehicle collision on Airport Road, near Healey Road

• No injuries

• David BISHOP, 69, of Caledon, was charged with:

o Operation while impaired

o Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

June 30, 2024, just before 7:00 p.m.

• Traffic stop on Highway 10, near Old School Road

• Shivdath MOHABIR, 27, of Brampton, was charged with:

o Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

o Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

o Driving while under suspension

June 30, 2024, just before 10:00 p.m.

• Two-vehicle collision on Airport Road and Mayfield Road

• No injuries

• Joshua ROOPDIAL, 27, of Brampton, was charged with:

o Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

All seven accused are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 18, 2024, to answer to their charges.

Andrew KANIEWSKI Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a collision with impaired operation by drugs.

On June 27, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a single motor-vehicle collision on Escarpment Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. No injuries were sustained. While investigating, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew KANIEWSKI, 35, of Etobicoke, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – drugs

• Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

• Possession of a Schedule I substance

The accused is schedule to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 22, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Prabhjot RANDHAWA: Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with over three times the legal limit with impaired operation.

On June 25, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Caledon OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver on Old School Road. Officers located the vehicle. Officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Prabhjot RANDHAWA, 53, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 11, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Sukhwinder SINGH Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a collision with impaired operation.

On June 24, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision between a passenger vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle in the intersection of Airport Road and Charleston Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. Minor injuries were sustained. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver of the passenger vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Sukhwinder SINGH, 56, of Nobleton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is schedule to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 11, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Gun @ RIDE Leads To Charges

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a loaded handgun from a vehicle during a RIDE spot check.

On June 21, shortly after 11:30 p.m., Caledon OPP was conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) spot check in the area of Innis Lake Road and Healey Road. A vehicle entered the area and a preliminary investigation led officers to conduct a search. A loaded handgun was subsequently located. All three occupants were placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, AKASHDEEP SINGH, 24, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

• Knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm

• Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

• Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available 

• Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Heroin

• Breach of firearms regulations – transport firearm or restricted weapon 

• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition 

MAMINDER SINGH, 25, of Brampton, as well as NAVSAGAR SINGH, 23, of Caledon, were also both charged with:

• Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

• Knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm

• Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

• Breach of firearms regulations – transport firearm or restricted weapon 

• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition 

All three accused were held for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Iqbal SINGH Was Arrested Again

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation.

On June 20, 2024, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Plummer Road, near Station Road, in the Town of Caledon. Officers attended and met with the driver. During the investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operation a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Iqbal SINGH, 51, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

• Failure to comply with release order

• Failure or refusing to comply with demand

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 11, 2024, to answer to the charges. The vehicle was impounded for a period of 45 days.

Simply put, the best way to avoid impaired driving is to not take a chance. Plan another way home:

• Have a designated driver

• Use public transit

• Call a friend or family member for a ride

• Call a taxi or ride share

• Stay overnight

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a quantity of drugs and charged three individuals as a result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in the Town of Caledon.

On June 18, 2024, members of the Caledon Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), along with Nottawasaga CSCU, Collingwood CSCU, Huronia West CSCU, Orillia CSCU, City of Kawartha Lakes CSCU, Southern Georgian Bay CSCU, Barrie Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau OCEB, and uniform executed seven search warrants at homes in Caledon and Schomberg. The search warrants resulted in the arrest of three individuals who are facing multiple charges. In addition, the officers seized a quantity of drugs. 

Ryan SUITOR, 37, of Schomberg, was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

·      Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – 4 counts

·      Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused was held for Bail and to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.

Matthew REGENT, 38, of Bolton, was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

·      Fail to comply with release order

Alfredo GALLO, 29, of Caledon, was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule II substance – Other Drugs

The two accused are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 4th, 2024, to answer to the charges.

The following property was seized:

·      Powder cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, oxycodone pills, prescription pills, heroin.

·      Items consistent with drug trafficking

·      A large amount of Canadian currency

·      Witness P .45 calibre handgun

·      10 rounds of .45 calibre ammunition

·      2016 Lincoln MKX

·      Stolen 2014 Honda CRF2 motorcycle

Kamaluddin HAIDARI Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a local driver with stunt driving and impaired operation.

On June 15, 2024, just after 10:00 p.m., officers received a call for service regarding a suspicious person around The Gore Road, near Finnerty Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. The individual left the resident in a motor vehicle and was located by officers. At that time, the vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate a speed and led to a traffic stop. During the investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operation a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Kamaluddin HAIDARI, 39, of Caledon, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol.

·      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt.

·      Refusal to comply with demand.

·      Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

·      Driver failure to surrender license.

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 4th, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Cory WOJDYLO Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation.

On June 11, 2024, just after 12:00 p.m., Caledon OPP received a report that a driver may be operating a motor vehicle while impaired. The vehicle was located. The investigation led officers to form grounds that the driver’s abilities were impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Cory WOJDYLO, 47, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on June 27, 2024, to answer to the charge.

Another Pedestrian Run Down

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a failed to remain collision on Coleraine Drive.

On June 8, 2024, just after 3:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision on Coleraine Drive involving a pedestrian and a white transport truck. The pedestrian was transported by land to a Toronto-area trauma centre where injuries were determined to be serious but not life-threatening. The vehicle failed to remain.

Coleraine Drive between Parr Boulevard and George Bolton Parkway was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Caledon OPP at 905-584-2241 or 1-888-310-1122. You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.peelcrimestoppers.ca. Maxwell WANJIRU Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a traffic stop.

On June 1, 2024, just before 7:00 a.m., an officer was patrolling on Kennedy Road, near Twistleton Street, in the Town of Caledon. The manner in which the vehicle was being operated led to a traffic stop. During the investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operation a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Maxwell WANJIRU, 23, of North York, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

• Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on June 20, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Tarsem PADDA – Impaired Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation by drugs.

On May 29, 2024, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Airport Road and Mayfield Road, in the Town of Caledon. Officers located the vehicle. During the investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs.

As a result, Tarsem PADDA, 36, of no fixed address, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on June 18, 2024, to answer to the charge.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officer’s from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals with Impaired Operation.

On May 3, 2024, at approximately 12:44 a.m. officers received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Columbia Way in the Town of Caledon. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that one of the driver’s abilities to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Maya CASCALLAR, 20, of Bolton, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Class G1 licence driving at unlawful hour.
  • Class G1 licence unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • Young driver blood alcohol concentration above zero
  • Novice driver blood alcohol concentration above zero

A few minutes later officers responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired north on Airport Road and Mayfield. Observations from a witness advised that the vehicle was operating in a concerning manner. Officers located the vehicle on King Street near Airport Road. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Jagraj DHALIWAL, 31, of Brampton, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 23, 2024, to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence’s were suspended for a period of 90 days and the vehicles were impounded for seven.
