Paul Heffer Rendered Moot: Questions & Cameras Return To North Huron Council Meetings #ItsTime #12Jan

(WINGHAM, North Huron, ON — Residents and members of the press are preparing to attend the January 12 North Huron council meeting in force, arriving early, cameras in hand, determined to record proceedings and ask questions publicly and peacefully.

North Huron Reeve Paul Heffer is refusing to enforce any bylaws in North Huron, from recording council meetings, asking questions at meetings, parking viloations to obstructing sidewalks. Paul Heffer has been rendered moot. Paul Heffer was scared to enforce the law, even with the secret police there backing him up.

The half hour before the scheduled meetings at 6:00 p.m., has become a focal point for growing concern over transparency, public participation, and the enforceability of council rules inside the chambers.

At the previous meeting on December 15, members of the public openly recorded council proceedings despite the presence of police. No enforcement action was taken. Cameras continued rolling. Questions continued being asked.

That moment, many say, marked a turning point.

Despite a long-standing “no recording” policy cited by council chair Paul Heffer, the rule was not enforced—raising fundamental questions about whether the bylaw applies, whether it is lawful, and whether council leadership has the authority or willingness to act on it.

Legal experts have long noted that recording public meetings is protected under Canadian principles of open government, particularly when no disruption occurs. Attendees at the December meeting remained calm, orderly, and compliant with decorum—while continuing to document what unfolded.

Observers say the inability to stop lawful recording, even with police present, underscored a deeper issue: uncertainty at the top of council about the scope of its own powers and bylaws.

As January 12 approaches, organizers say the public intends to do exactly what it did last time—show up, follow the rules, ask questions, and record.

“This isn’t about disruption,” said one attendee. “It’s about visibility. When power is exercised in public, it should withstand public scrutiny.”

Council leadership has not clarified whether the recording policy applies to the council’s own property, whether it has been legally reviewed, or why it was not enforced at the last meeting. That silence, critics argue, speaks louder than any enforcement attempt could.

Residents say the message is simple: council chambers are not private boardrooms. They are public spaces, paid for by taxpayers, meant for accountability—not control.

January 12 is shaping up to be less about confrontation and more about a test—of governance, transparency, and whether elected officials can operate confidently under the same scrutiny they routinely impose on the public.

Cameras will be on. Questions will be asked.
And this time, no one expects the public to back down.

One Dead: Reeve Paul Heffer Wanted for Questioning – Police Fear More Victims as North Huron Ignores the Supreme Court #ItsTime

(Wingham, North Huron) A senior citizen is dead — and North Huron still refuses to answer the simplest question: why are its sidewalks treated as snow dumps instead of lifesaving pedestrian infrastructure?

Last winter, an elderly resident slipped on an unmaintained North Huron sidewalk, shattered a hip, and never recovered. Months later, he died — not in dignity, but in isolation, pain, and quiet neglect. His final chapter reads like an indictment of a municipality that talks about “community” while failing the most basic duty it owes its residents: keeping sidewalks safe to walk on.

Let’s be clear about the stakes. Police, paramedics, and public health officials all agree: pedestrians are safer on designated sidewalks than walking in live traffic. For seniors, people with mobility challenges, parents with strollers, and children walking to school, sidewalks are not optional. They are safety infrastructure.

And yet, North Huron continues to bury sidewalks under plowed snow, forcing people into the street — despite clear legal direction that municipalities are responsible for sidewalk maintenance and cannot use pedestrian walkways as snow storage. This is not a grey area. It is settled law.

So why does North Huron keep pretending it isn’t?

Town officials have openly claimed that municipal bylaws don’t apply to the municipality itself — a statement so legally absurd it would be laughable if the consequences weren’t deadly. No private property owner in North Huron is allowed to obstruct a sidewalk. Yet the municipality does it daily, with heavy equipment, and then shrugs when challenged.

If a private citizen blocked a sidewalk knowing it would push seniors into traffic, police would investigate. When the municipality does it, we’re told to look the other way.

That double standard is not just offensive — it’s dangerous.

The disrespect doesn’t stop there. The cenotaph flag remains tattered and unreplaced. Snow continues to be dumped on sidewalks near memorial spaces meant to honor the fallen. Promises were made. Requests were repeated. Nothing changed. It is hard to imagine a clearer symbol of how little accountability exists at Town Hall.

Which brings us to the unavoidable question: who is responsible?

Reeve Paul Heffer has been asked — directly — whether bylaw enforcement applies on municipal property. He would not answer. Council has been notified. Staff have been warned. The law has been cited. Still, the sidewalks remain buried.

This is not ignorance. It is willful avoidance.

When unsafe conditions are created knowingly, when warnings are ignored, and when harm follows, the public is entitled to ask hard questions — including whether this conduct rises to reckless endangerment. At minimum, it demands scrutiny. At maximum, it demands accountability.

North Huron cannot keep hiding behind bureaucracy while residents pay with their health — or their lives.

The next North Huron council meeting is Monday at 6:00 p.m. The public should arrive early. Watch closely. Listen carefully. See whether anyone on council is prepared to confront the reality that one person is already dead — and more risk being next.

Silence is no longer an option.

North Huron Reeve Paul Heffer To Force “Unstable” Budget On Public & Council Using Strong Mayor “Law”

(Wingham, North Huron) North Huron councillors and residents were not allowed any input or scrutiny in the 2026 budget. Taxes ares going up 3.89%, and expected to soar in 2027. According to documents, Paul Heffer is exercising “Strong Mayor” powers to ram his budget through. Click Here for a link to today’s meeting

🔥 TOP-LINE TAKEAWAYS — WHAT THEY DON’T WANT THE PUBLIC TO NOTICE

1️⃣ Strong Mayor Powers now fully control the budget

Pages 4–8 lay out the Strong Mayor regime in detail. It gives Paul Heffer unilateral control unless Council musters 5 out of 7 votes to override him (page 7).

This is a power shift away from democratic budgeting and toward a Mayoral/CAO administrative consolidation.
The public has not been told this clearly.

Why it matters to you:

  • Heffer can veto Council amendments.
  • Council needs a supermajority to override him.
  • If Council does nothing, his budget is automatically adopted after 55 days.

This explains the stonewalling we’ve been experiencing: they no longer need to win votes; they just need to wait out the clock.

🔥 2️⃣ The “3.89% levy increase” hides structural problems

Page 2 and page 22 trumpet the “3.89%” levy.
But buried inside the tables (pages 10–12) is the real story:

Property Taxes are rising because:

  • Wages & benefits jumped by $145,989 (page 12).
  • Operating expenses increased significantly across many departments (page 14).
  • Capital spending exploded by $1.28 million (page 16).
  • They’re draining external funds (CCBF & OCIF) to avoid even larger tax increases (page 17).

This is not a stable budget. It is patching holes with one-time federal/provincial money that will not recur.

Page 17 explicitly states:

“The amounts funded from carry forwards will not represent funding that can be repeated.”

Translation:
👉 Next year will require either a massive levy increase or service cuts.

🔥 3️⃣ The Township is raiding long-term infrastructure funds

Page 17 admits they are burning through federal (CCBF) and provincial (OCIF) infrastructure funds to avoid raising the levy even more.

This is the municipal equivalent of:

“We paid the mortgage using our RRSP.”

This is high-risk budgeting and sets taxpayers up for future shocks.

🔥 4️⃣ Wages + Benefits now exceed $6.6 million

Page 12 shows a staggering jump to $6,616,288 for wages, salaries, and benefits.

This makes staffing the single largest municipal cost driver—more than infrastructure, more than roads, more than protection services.

And yet:

  • Sidewalks remain dangerous.
  • Roads are crumbling.
  • By-law enforcement is dysfunctional.
  • Service levels have declined.

The public is paying more, but receiving less.

🔥 5️⃣ Capital purchases list is bloated and inconsistent

Pages 18–20 list millions in spending, including:

  • New ¾-ton pickup trucks
  • Arena upgrades
  • Digital signs
  • Ammonia detector replacements
  • Fleet expansion
  • Gravel & road projects
  • Water/sewer upgrades

But missing:

  • A sidewalk maintenance program
  • A stormwater management plan
  • A winter pedestrian safety plan
  • Any funded plan to address repeated injuries/deaths

This exposes their priorities:
👉 Vehicles, arenas, and equipment—not public safety.

🔥 6️⃣ The Confirmatory By-law quietly locks everything in

Page 29 contains the Confirmatory By-law (No. 88-2025), which:

  • Retroactively legalizes everything done at the meeting
  • Shields Council decisions from legal challenge
  • Splits each agenda item into a separate confirmable item to make vetoes easier

Also note:

“This Confirmatory By-law shall be deemed to be separate By-laws for each item listed on the agenda.”

This is a procedural fortress against accountability.

🔥 7️⃣ Water & Sewer budgets show strange financial swings

Page 28 reveals:

Water capital spending shrank from $6.3M to $144,500

This is a massive contraction. It raises questions:

  • Were previous water budgets inflated?
  • Has a major project vanished?
  • Was debt taken on last year?

Sewer capital spending also dropped by more than half

These swings deserve direct questioning.

⚠️ BIGGEST RED FLAG: North Huron will face a fiscal cliff in 2027

Because:

  • Reserve contributions are too low.
  • CCBF/OCIF carry-forwards will be gone.
  • Wage increases compound annually.
  • Capital needs are rising fast.

This budget kicks the crisis 12 months down the road.

📌 Top 10 questions for Council (and Heffer) that will never be answered.

  1. Why is North Huron exhausting one-time infrastructure grants to artificially suppress the tax levy this year? (page 17)
  2. What happens next year when these CCBF/OCIF carry-forwards are gone? What is the projected 2027 levy increase?
  3. Why were wages and benefits allowed to rise to $6.6 million? (page 12)
  4. Why are sidewalks unsafe when staffing costs and tax levies keep rising?
  5. Why did water capital spending collapse from $6.3M to $144,500? (page 28)
  6. Why are no sidewalk safety or snow-clearing improvements included in the capital plan?
  7. Why does the Confirmatory By-law (page 29) fragment the agenda into items that can be individually vetoed under strong mayor powers?
  8. Why are recreational upgrades prioritized over critical public safety infrastructure?
  9. Has the CAO advised of long-term insolvency risks associated with using one-time funds for recurring obligations?
  10. Has North Huron conducted a service-level review to justify rising staff compensation?

$113 Million Stolen From Huron Residents Every Year, New Analysis Reveals – $10 Million From North Huron Alone!

(Wingham, North Huron) A new analysis of Huron OPP fraud data reveals a staggering truth: North Huron residents are quietly being drained of nearly $10 million a year by scammers, with almost all cases going unreported.

Between August 30 and October 31, 2025, the Huron OPP responded to nine fraud cases totalling $943,100 in confirmed losses. Because only an estimated 5% of fraud victims ever report, the real number is far higher — about $113 million county-wide per year.

How much of that is hitting North Huron?

North Huron represents roughly 8.5% of the county’s population, meaning the township’s estimated share of the fraud epidemic is:

➡️ $9.4M–$9.6M per year stolen from local residents

That’s equivalent to:

  • $800,000 per month
  • $26,000 per day
  • $1,100 per hour

Who is being targeted?

Most victims are seniors between 64 and 85 years old, caught in sophisticated cryptocurrency, investment, and romance scams. Many lose their entire life savings.

Only 5% report — 95% stay silent

Stigma, embarrassment, and hopelessness prevent most victims from coming forward. That silence allows scammers to continue operating unchecked.

The hidden crisis

If current trends continue:

  • 1.8% of all residents will be scammed each year
  • 1 in 12 residents will be scammed within 5 years
  • 1 in 6 will be scammed within a decade

This is a crisis of both security and awareness.

Community Response Needed

North Huron has not established any coordinated anti-fraud strategy. There is no local campaign, senior-focused education program, or rapid-response task force.

Without action, the financial hemorrhage will only worsen.

Police Issue Stark Warning To Child & Wife Abusers As North Huron Tension Boils Over #DeathOfFear #SaveOurChildren #ReleaseTheFiles

(WINGHAM, North Huron, ON) – An unprecedented and chilling warning is being issued to child sex offenders and those who endanger children across the province: turn yourselves in, or run. Your safety can no longer be guaranteed.

The warning comes amid a powder-keg of public fury focused on the Municipality of North Huron, now being described by community leaders as “Wingham, where fear comes to die.” This slogan, has been adopted as a battle cry by a populace that has reached its breaking point.

A source within the Ontario Provincial Police, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the volatile nature of the situation, stated: “We are advising all known and suspected child sex offenders to seriously consider turning themselves in for protective custody. The general population is no longer a safe environment for you. The social contract has been broken.”

The message is not limited to police channels. Flyers and social media posts with the hashtags #DeathOfFear, #SaveOurChildren, and #ReleaseTheFiles are circulating widely. They contain a direct and terrifying instruction to abusers: Those child and wife abusers that feel they will be targeted are advised to call 911 immediately, before the mob shows up at their door.”

The movement positions itself as a moral imperative for all Canadians. “Enough is enough,” one viral post reads. “How long will you sit idle while children and others are being exploited? If you can’t defend our community’s children, you are part of the problem and are just as guilty.”

The cultural moment is also being cited as a driving force. The hit country song “Wait In The Truck,” which depicts a vigilante confronting an abuser, is being described as a “rally cry” for true Canadians to defend the vulnerable.

The net is being cast wide, extending beyond individual abusers to those in positions of authority. A stark warning has been issued to local by-law enforcement officers: enforce the laws protecting children on your watch, or find your name on the same list as Paul Heffer.

The catalyst for the crisis appears to be the alleged actions/inaction of Paul Heffer, the head of the municipal corporation known as North Huron. Persistent, unverified rumors are swirling of a $1000 reward being offered privately for the arrest and conviction of Heffer on charges of child endangerment related to his official duties. While authorities have not confirmed the reward, they have not denied the palpable threat simmering beneath the surface of this community.

The message from a community pushed to the edge is clear: The era of silent suffering is over. The fear has shifted. It no longer resides with the victims, but with those who have preyed upon them. For child abusers in North Huron and beyond, the hunt is imminent, and the walls are closing in.

The advice from authorities to offenders remains: Your only safe option is to turn yourself in. Now.

Pierre Poilievre’s Return Sparks ‘Stand Your Ground’ Wave Across Canada & Controversial Song #SYR

(North Huron – Wingham, ON) A dramatic shift in Canadian politics is underway as Pierre Poilievre prepares for his historic return to Ottawa on Monday. Millions of Canadians are rallying behind a simple but powerful message: My roof, my rules, my castle—and I’m the king of it.”

From coast to coast, the Stand Your Ground movement has exploded in popularity, uniting Canadians across political lines with a renewed focus on defending their homes, their families, their communities, and their country.

Projections are that 10 million Canadians will tune in to hear Pierre stand his ground Monday, 15 September, either live or online in the following days.

Buck & Jo’s Leads the Charge In Ontario

In Wingham—the small-town epicenter of so many grassroots fights—Buck & Jo’s has once again stepped into the national spotlight. The restaurant is flying both the Alberta flag and a blue Canadian flag in solidarity with Pierre, a symbolic gesture of Western grit and national unity.

Activists and Freedom Fighters call it the “Front Line”, and today that line has gone blue. Their message to Pierre is clear:

“Pierre, we’ve got your back.”

A Song to Fuel the Movement

To mark Pierre’s return, a new anthem has been released: “My Roof, My Rules, My Castle.” The song celebrates the right of every Canadian to defend their home and family, with lyrics that blend grit, defiance, and patriotism.

Chants of “Stand up! Stand strong! Hold the line!” echo through the chorus, while the song closes with a powerful spoken outro:

“My roof. My rules. My castle. And I’m the king of it.”

The Controversy

But like any movement shaking the status quo, the song hasn’t escaped controversy. Critics are zeroing in on a particular lyric:

“See Dick let an intruder by, see Dick’s family die.”

Supporters argue it is a blunt reminder of the consequences of failing to protect one’s home and loved ones. Detractors call it too graphic. Either way, the debate has only fueled the song’s momentum—controversy building hype, and hype building solidarity.

The Bigger Picture

Pierre’s return to Ottawa is more than a parliamentary event. It’s being called a “perologue”—a defining prelude to what many believe is a new era in Canadian politics. The Stand Your Ground movement is set to go national, with growing attention on educating Canadians about Sections 34 and 35 of the Criminal Code, which outline the right to self-defence.

As the anthem declares, “The weak days are gone.”

A Turning Point

Monday may well mark a historic turning point. With a nation watching, and a song already stirring Activists, the stage is set for what supporters describe as nothing less than the rebirth of Canadian strength, courage, and unity.

And in the heart of Wingham, where Buck & Jo’s blue flags fly high, the message rings out loud and clear:

“Defend your family. Defend what’s right. Stand your ground. Pierre, we stand with you.”

Poilievre Joins Lethal Movement Taking Back Canada [Video] #WinghamWakening #DeathOfFear

(Wingham, ON)My roof, my rules, my castle – and I’m the king of it. It would be wise not to test my resolve.

This is not about violence. It is about resolve. It is about the unshakable right to protect what is ours: our homes, our families, and our future.

Once again, a small-town restaurant in Wingham is going viral and sparking national debate by standing firm on one of the oldest and most sacred rights: the right to defend your home, your family, and your country.

For years, Canadians have been told to stay quiet, to obey over-reaching municipal “governments,” and to surrender their freedoms one by one. But Buck & Jo’s, the now-legendary hub of free thought and speech in Wingham, refuses to bow. Vote Buck

From Vilified to Vindicated

Three years ago, when Buck & Jo’s first spoke out about the use of lethal force in defence of life as guaranteed under Section 35 of the Criminal Code of Canada, they were smeared and branded as “extremists.”

Today, they’re being praised. Their stance is no longer fringe—it’s mainstream. Across Canada, citizens are recognizing that the only way to be free is to stand your ground.

The recent case in Kawartha Lakes, where a homeowner was charged for defending his family, has only reignited the movement. Canadians are now asking: Why are law-abiding families punished while criminals are coddled?

A Symbol of Resistance

It began with the “chalk outline” sticker in 2021. In 2024 it was updated for the upcoming 2026 Ontario municipal election to “Who’s the king of your castle?”

What began as an act of defiance during Covid has grown into a nationwide awakening. Buck & Jo’s is now seen as the last few thousand square feet of uninfected, unsegregated, Glorious and Free Canada.

The Declaration

The Death of Fear

What we are witnessing is not just a protest. It is a cultural shift. Canadians are rediscovering their courage.

Fear is dying, and with it, the chains that have held us down.

A Call to Every Canadian

Buck & Jo’s is not just a restaurant. It has become a symbol, a rallying point, and a beacon of hope. Even Pierre Poilievre is now advocating for Canadians to Stand Their Ground.

The message is simple but powerful:
👉 Stand your ground.
👉 Defend your family.
👉 Take back your country.

North Huron Acknowledges Private Property Rights in Watershed Announcement #Victory

(Wingham, ON) — The Crown Corporation known as North Huron has, without prejudice, officially acknowledged Private Property Rights and has committed to no longer threatening its customers with trespass, theft or harassment.

This marks a significant shift, as North Huron now recognizes and respects private property rights, while disclaiming any liability for previous actions or inactions. This resolution opens the door for the entire community to move forward, allowing bylaw enforcement to focus exclusively on holding municipal staff accountable by enforcing bylaws solely on the corporation’s assets.

This decision by North Huron Council is the first of its kind in Canada and represents a major victory for property rights advocates and freedom fighters nationwide.

Tensions began spiraling out of control on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 3:43 PM, when Nancy Small, a North Huron by-law enforcement officer, contacted a local restaurant and claimed that the phrase “Vote Buck” was illegal and needed to be removed from both the business and the home of its owners.

Following a series of meetings and emails, by-law enforcement eventually stood down, refusing to participate in acts of trespass or theft.

The Corporation of North Huron subsequently attempted to outsource enforcement to a private firm. That firm refused to respond to emails from Buck & Jo’s and declined to enforce at the location. It appears their contract was not renewed, as they are no longer listed on the municipality’s website and have not been seen in town recently.

Buck & Jo’s then secured a written admission from North Huron’s CAO acknowledging that municipal bylaws apply only to assets owned by the corporation, not to the private property of customers. The CAO was swiftly replaced.

The restaurant had previously gone viral during the COVID-19 lockdowns when the owners stood their ground, confronted enforcers about their lack of authority, demanded accountability from an unresponsive health department, and refused to violate anyone’s rights.

NOTE: WFP has found NO evidence supporting the widespread rumors of a “massive peace summit” of freedom fighters and mayors being flown into Wingham via Helicopter ahead of this announcement.

To verify if North Huron acknowledges private property rights, and will not participate in theft or trespass contact them via the information below.

🚨WARNING: Bill 197 “Safer Roads and Communities Act” Strips More Rights Away From Ontarians 🚨

Bill 197 – Safer Roads and Communities Act, 2024 contains sweeping amendments to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. While its stated intent is to improve road safety and crack down on impaired driving, street racing, and vehicle theft, certain clauses dramatically expand government authority—particularly in ways that could intrude onto private property and open the door to abuse.

Source: https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-43/session-1/bill-197

Here’s a breakdown of how this bill potentially extends government authority onto private property and what risks it carries:

🔍 1. Expanded Definition of “Driver” & “Operator”

  • Clause 48 (18) redefines “driver” to include “a person who has care, charge or control of a motor vehicle while the vehicle is on or off a highway.”
  • Section 216 (8) also includes those with control of a vehicle that has “recently travelled from or off the highway.”

🚨 Danger:

These broadened definitions allow police to enforce Highway Traffic Act violations on private driveways, parking lots, and even rural or private land—not just on public roads.

This opens the door for:

  • Increased surveillance and enforcement actions without a warrant on private property.
  • Vehicle stops and document demands in places previously beyond regular traffic jurisdiction.
  • Ambiguity around “recently travelled from a highway”, which can be broadly interpreted.

🔍 2. Police Powers to Demand Documents & Stop Vehicles

  • Section 2, Clause (f) authorizes police officers to:

“require a driver or operator of a vehicle to stop the vehicle and surrender documents.”

🚨 Danger:

This section does not restrict where this stop can occur. In combination with the expanded “driver” definition, it allows off-highway enforcement, potentially:

  • At your home, if your vehicle is idling or just parked.
  • On private roads, farms, or driveways.
  • Creating potential for abusive stops or targeted enforcement, especially where no public danger exists.

🔍 3. New Regulation-Making Powers Override the Act

  • Section 2(2):

“In the event of a conflict between a regulation made under this section and this Act, the regulation prevails.”

🚨 Danger:

This allows Cabinet (not elected legislators) to create regulations that override the Act itself, bypassing parliamentary debate. This can be used to:

  • Expand enforcement zones without public accountability.
  • Create new vehicle classifications or obligations for private vehicle use.
  • Mandate equipment, insurance, or inspections for vehicles used on private land.

🔍 4. Indefinite Licence Suspensions Without Court Oversight

  • Several sections (e.g., 41.0.1, 41.0.2) introduce automatic, indefinite licence suspensions upon convictions, including:
    • Impaired driving causing death.
    • Vehicle theft (10, 15 years, or indefinitely for repeated offenses).

🚨 Danger:

While harsh penalties for serious crimes are understandable, automatic and indefinite suspensions without independent tribunal oversight may result in:

  • Disproportionate punishment without room for context.
  • Lifetime bans for offenses years in the past with no pathway for appeal beyond a strict 25-year benchmark.
  • Permanently affecting livelihood of individuals who may rely on vehicles for work—especially in rural Ontario.

🔍 5. Ministry Enforcement Vehicles Given Police-Like Powers

  • Section 23(d) adds “ministry vehicles” to the definition of emergency vehicles authorized to:
    • Speed
    • Stop traffic
    • Use flashing lights

🚨 Danger:

Non-police ministry staff may now act with emergency enforcement powers, with fewer checks and balances, including potential action on private property under enforcement of vehicle-related rules.

❗Summary: What This Means for Private Property Owners

Bill 197 significantly expands the Ontario government’s authority over vehicles and drivers, even when they’re on private land. It does so by:

  • Broadening definitions of driver and operator.
  • Empowering police to act beyond highways.
  • Allowing off-highway stops and document checks.
  • Granting regulation power that can override statutes.
  • Removing barriers to indefinite licence suspension.

⚠️ Dangers of Abuse:

  • Harassment of individuals on their own property.
  • Increased targeting of marginalized or rural communities.
  • Loss of due process through regulatory changes that bypass elected debate.
  • Unintended criminalization of private behavior involving vehicles not used on public roads.

Lake effect snow squalls are expected. Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of up to 35 cm by Friday evening. Poor visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Timing: Continuing through Friday. Discussion: Lake effect snow squalls are expected to track across the area today and tonight. Northwest winds gusting up to 60 km/h can result in blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility at times. Some areas may see lake effect snow into the weekend. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Snow Squall Watch: Wingham, Blyth & Northern Huron County

    5:50 PM EST Tuesday 31 December 2024

Snow Squall Watch in effect for:

    • Wingham – Blyth – Northern Huron County

Snow squalls are expected to develop. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. Lake effect snow squalls forecast beginning Wednesday afternoon.

Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 10 to 20 cm by Thursday evening. Additional accumulations possible Thursday night. Poor visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Timing: Beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing through Wednesday night. Additional snow squalls possible Thursday and Thursday night.

Discussion: Lake effect snow squalls off Lake Huron are forecast to develop once again in the wake of a low pressure system. Strong northwest winds gusting up to 50 or 60 km/h will accompany the snow squalls resulting in blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility at times.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
