Passed Out 27 Year Old Facing Charges

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after locating a vehicle with an unresponsive driver.

On Friday September 19, 2025, shortly after 1:30am, Peterborough County OPP officers were dispatched to a call involving a vehicle alarm. Officers attended Trent Lane in Asphodel-Norwood Township and located a vehicle in the roadway with driver appearing to be asleep. Officers were able to gain the attention of the driver and upon speaking with them, determined them to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.

Ryan GRUZA (age 27) of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, ON., was arrested and charged with;

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence further suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 28, 2025.

Erica ESPOSITO – Drunk Driving

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving as a result of a R.I.D.E. check.

On July 6, 2025, just prior to 2:00am, Peterborough County OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on County Road 2 in the township of Asphodel-Norwood. Officers observed a vehicle approach the R.I.D.E. checkpoint and spoke with the driver. After a brief conversation, officers determined the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and then later transported to an OPP detachment for further testing where they provided samples of their breath.

Erica ESPOSITO (age 35) of Hastings, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 5, 2025.

Jeremy RICHARDSON Was Arrested Again

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a stolen ATV and charged the individual caught operating it.

On Sunday April 20, 2025, a Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting general patrol on County Road 45 in the township of Asphodel-Norwood. The officer observed a four-wheel all terrain vehicle (ATV) approaching and attempted to stop the vehicle to speak with the driver. The driver of the ATV slowed as they came closer to the officer and then continued past regardless of the officer’s attempt to wave them down.

The officer while attempting to locate the ATV, was approached and provided information that led to the location of the driver who was inevitably arrested. During the investigation, it was determined that the ATV being operated was one that had been recently reported as stolen.

Jeremy RICHARDSON (age 44) of Keene, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code (two counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Jeffrey COLAZZI – Impaired Operation

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after conducting a traffic stop.

On April 20, 2025, shortly after 4:00pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were on general patrol on County Road 40 in the township of Asphodel-Norwood when they observed a vehicle travelling at a rate significantly higher than the posted 80km/hr limit. The officer conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver, determined the driver to be impaired and arrested them.

Jeffrey COLAZZI (age 42) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Dangerous Operation

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 3, 2025

Noah ANDERSON – Impaired Driving

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after investigating a vehicle in the ditch call.

On February 24, 2025, shortly after 6:00pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were contacted about a vehicle that had gone off the road on Asphodel 3rd Line. Officers arrived on scene to find a grey pickup truck that had gone off the road and was lodged deep in snow. An individual was located in the driver’s seat and the driver’s window was open. Officers called to the individual who exited the vehicle through the window as the snow was too deep to open the door. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of impairment at which point the driver was arrested.

Noah ANDERSON (age 22) of Asphodel-Norwood Township, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 25, 2025.

YATES – Drunk Driving

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a disturbance that led to the driver of a vehicle being charged with impaired driving.

On January 20, 2025, just prior to 1:00am, Peterborough County OPP received a report of a disturbance outside a residence in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood. Officers, while on route, were updated that one of the parties involved in the disturbance had left in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle based on a description that was provided by the complainant and conducted a traffic stop.

Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver, officers noted signs of impairment at which point an arrest was made. The driver was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.

Joshua YATES (age 44) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 18, 2025.

Fatal Collision

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to the scene of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision that occurred on County Road 38 at Dummer Asphodel Road, resulting in one fatality.

Just prior to 3:30pm on December 1, 2024, Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious two-vehicle collision on County Road 38 and Dummer Asphodel Road. Upon arrival, officers observed both vehicles in the north ditch. Fire department was already on scene and were working on extricating the female driver and male passenger from a black SUV. A white pickup truck with a lone driver was also in the ditch.

Witnesses advised that the pickup truck was travelling southbound on County Road 38 and as they were approaching Dummer Asphodel Road, a black SUV traveling westbound, failed to stop for the stop sign resulting in the vehicles colliding.

A 69-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced as deceased.

The driver of the black SUV was transported to a local hospital but was later taken by ORNGE Air to a Toronto trauma centre..

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

Roads remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and police members trained in collision reconstruction, measured and documented the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Isaac HEWTON Was Arrested Again

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a single vehicle collision that led to the driver being charged with impaired.

On November 13, 2024, just after 6:00pm, Peterborough County OPP received a report of a vehicle that had gone off the road and rolled before coming to rest in a field off County Road 8. Police arrived on scene where the driver was being attended to by EMS

While speaking with the driver, officers noted signs of impairment, and the driver was arrested. The driver was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

Isaac HEWTON (age 35) of Havelock, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 7, 2025.

11 Kilo Drug Bust

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in relation to a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation.

On August 15, 2024, one suspect was arrested after a CDSA Search Warrant was executed in Norwood by members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU and the City of Kawartha Lakes/Haliburton Highlands CSCU with assistance from the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA). Two suspects were arrested after a second Search Warrant was executed at a Richmond Hill location as part of the same investigation.

The following items were seized as a result of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Search Warrant:

  • 11 kilograms of Ketamine
  •  25 grams of Ketamine
  • Approximately 5000 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) pills, commonly known as ecstasy
  • 9mm Glock handgun with an extended capacity magazine,
  • 98 – 9mm rounds of ammunition
  • 7 cell phones
  • 5 digital scales
  • 2 laptops and 1 tablet

Jonathan DRAIN (age 39) of Norwood, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Importation of a Schedule 1 Substance – Ketamine
  • Conspiracy to Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device (Extended Mag)
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order

The accused was held in custody and appeared for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Biao CHEN (age 32) of Richmond Hill, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Importation of a Schedule 1 Substance – Ketamine
  • Conspiracy to Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking a Schedule 3 Substance

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on September 17, 2024.

Sha SHA (age 36) of Richmond Hill, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Importation of a Schedule 1 Substance – Ketamine
  • Conspiracy to Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking a Schedule 3 Substance

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on September 17, 2024.

Jeffrey PAWLOWSKY Was Arrested

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after a traffic stop.

On Sunday July 7, 2024, just prior to 4:30pm, an officer from the Peterborough County OPP detachment conducted a traffic stop on County Road 45 after being alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) in their cruiser. The officer approached the driver and made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Jeffrey PAWLOWSKY (age 61) of Tweed, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 13, 2024.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again #Catch&Release

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one person with multiple offences stemming from a traffic complaint on Highway 7.

On Friday April 5, 2024, the Peterborough County OPP received a call in relation to a black pickup truck driving erratically westbound on Highway 7. An officer travelling eastbound observed the vehicle and managed to obtain a speed reading of 162km/hr in the posted 80km/hr zone. Due to the volume of traffic the officer was unable to safely conduct a turn to attempt to stop the vehicle but radioed ahead to other officers in the direction that the pickup was travelling. A second OPP officer observed the vehicle and activated the cruisers emergency lights in effort to stop the vehicle. Information was obtained through the OPP Communication Centre that the vehicle in question had been reported as stolen that morning from Peterborough City. The vehicle continued through two intersections without making any effort to pull over. An additional OPP officer joined in and between the two officers, were able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and during a search incident to arrest, officers located three cell phones which were later determined to have been stolen. The driver was also found to be prohibited from driving.

Tee-Jay ATHANASI (age 33) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 7, 2024.
