Hit & Run – Impaired Driver Facing Numerous Charges

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On February 18, 2022 at approximately 6 p.m., The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fail to remain collision on Highway 6 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Police located the vehicle a short time later. Officers detected signs of impairment, and the driver was placed under arrest. They were transported to a local police detachment for further testing.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Marie LEBLANC, 41 years-of-age, from Owen Sound with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Resist peace officer

·        Assault a Peace Officer

·        Fail to remain

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Break & Enter – ROBERTSON

(MEAFORD, ON) On February 20, 2022 at approximately 7:45 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unwanted party on Trowbridge Street in the Municipality of Meaford.

Police arrived on scene and discovered that the individual had forced entry to a residence. Police located the individual inside, and placed them under arrest.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Cory ROBERTSON, 30 years-of-age, from Chatsworth, with break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, under the criminal code.

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

134 in an 80 – MATTHEWS

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Selwyn Township resident after they were speeding more than 54km/h over the limit in the Municipality of North Perth.

On February 15, 2022 just before 2:30 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 164 after it was found to be travelling in excess of 134km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Cassaranda MATTHEWS, 52, of Selwyn Township, has been charged with:

–       Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A 30-day-driving suspension and fourteen day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Stolen Vehicle Ditched Near Wingham – 48 Year Old Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich resident with several criminal charges, including theft of a pickup truck following a recent incident.

On February 18, 2022 at approximately 4:40 p.m. Huron County OPP received a report of a pickup truck that was just stolen from a parking lot located on London Road in Vanastra. About an hour later police received a second call involving the same pickup truck now stuck in the ditch just south of Wingham.     

Officers responded to Wingham and began patrolling for the suspect that was last seen on foot in Wingham. Shortly thereafter officers caught up with the suspect and he was arrested and taken into custody. A search incident to arrest was conducted and the accused was found to be in possession of break-in tools. 

Johnny St. LOUIS, 48 years of age from Goderich has been charged with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Operation While Prohibited – 8 counts
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Drive While Under Suspension

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 21, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Jeffrey COUTO – Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A suspect has been charged after thefts from a local business in the Municipality of North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the business on Mitchell Road South, Listowel on February 6, 2022, just after 3:00 p.m., after a person was witnessed shoplifting. During the investigation, it was learned that this person had shoplifted from this same business on two previous occasions.

Jeffrey COUTO, 36, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting (three counts)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

25 Year Old From ACW Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Huron County resident is facing a Dangerous Operation charge following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend.

At approximately 11:47 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 Huron OPP received a call about a vehicle that was driving in an erratic manner on London Road between Clinton and Londesborough.

Upon speaking with the victim police learned the accused’s erratic driving was determined to be quite dangerous. At one point the accused even exited his vehicle and attempted to strike the victim’s vehicle. Officers were later able to locate and arrest the accused.

Timothy PAVAO, 25 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Dangerous Operation. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 4, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Police Warn Of Convoy Starting In Kincardine

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) -The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Saugeen Shores Police Service (SSPS) are aware of a vehicle convoy planned for February 12, 2022.

The OPP recognizes the Charter rights of everyone to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. Our role is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace.

Motorists can expect delays along the planned route. Starting in Kincardine, travelling to Southampton, Allenford, Tara, Burgoyne and ending in Port Elgin.

The South Bruce OPP requests that convoy participants obey all traffic laws and behave in a manner that ensures safety for all users of the roadways.

Traffic slowdowns are anticipated as the convoy moves through Saugeen Shores and Arran Elderslie Township.

Speeder Arrested For Drunk Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – An impaired driver was arrested in West Perth after they sped past a fully marked police cruiser.

On February 4, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol was travelling on Perth Road 180, in the Municipality of West Perth, when they were passed by a speeding vehicle. A traffic stop was made, and during the investigation, the officer determined the driver was impaired. They were arrested, and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Donovan BREWER, 22, of North Middlesex, has been charged with:

–       Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–       Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–       Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 30-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. 

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

Devon CUERDEN Facing Drug Trafficking Charges Following Collision

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A Stratford resident is facing drug trafficking charges along with an impaired operation charge, following a collision in North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the North Perth Fire Department, and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded on February 01 2022, just before 9:00 p.m., to a report of a single vehicle collision on Line 58, in the Municipality of North Perth. The vehicle involved had ended up in the ditch.

The driver was not injured in the collision, but was showing signs of impairment. They were arrested and transported to a police operations centre for further examination through a Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE). The accused was also found to be in possession of a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Devon CUERDEN, 32, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–       Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Vanastra Drug Bust – BADLEY, LE, DAVIS, DALE & WAGLER

(HURON EAST, ON) – Five Huron County residents are facing drug trafficking & possession charges following a recent investigation conducted by members of the Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU).

On Friday, February 5, 2022, members from both the Huron-Perth and Oxford-Brant OPP Community Street Crimes Units (CSCU), along with assistance from the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence located on 12TH Street in Vanastra. 

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized quantities of suspected Methamphetamine, Fentanyl and Cocaine. The estimated value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $4,876. 

In addition to the seized controlled substances, police also seized cell phones, digital scales, drug trafficking materials and cash.  

Ronald WAGLER, 44 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking and Possession of Cocaine

Michael DALE, 31 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of Cocaine and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Ronald DAVIS, 52 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking and Possession of Cocaine.

Larissa LE, 29 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid and Possession of Cocaine.

Melissa BADLEY, 37 years of age from North Huron has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid and Possession of Cocaine.

All accused have since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 28, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision Update – Name Of Deceased Released

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A South Huron resident is now facing a charge in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place north of Dashwood on Bronson Line on November 15, 2021. 

Matthew GEORGE, 52 years of age from Bluewater died as a result of the crash. 

Following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team police have charged Laura MASSE, 35 years of age from South Huron with Careless Driving Cause Death. 

The defendant will have to attend Provincial Offences Act court in Goderich on March 8, 2022 to answer to the charge.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Police Follow Boot Prints In Snow

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A resident of Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation after police responded yesterday afternoon to a call about a motor vehicle in the ditch on Airport Line.

At approximately 2:08 p.m. on February 2, 2022 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a car that was stuck in the ditch on Airport Line near Bayfield Road. Officers responded to the area where they located an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch. Officers were able to follow some boot prints in the snow and it led them to the driver that was located nearby waiting for a tow. 

While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying noticeable signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Dale BRINDLEY, 46 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 28, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

MORRISON – Methamphetamine & Cocaine

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with drug possession charges following an arrest made in Vanastra.

On February 1, 2022 at approximately 4:42 p.m. Huron OPP officers were at an apartment building in Vanastra when they observed a suspect that was wanted for outstanding criminal offences. Officers were able to speak with the subject and he was taken into custody.  The accused was searched incident to arrest and he was found to be in possession of suspected Cocaine and Methamphetamine.

Robert MORRISON, 30 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine & Methamphetamine). The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 28, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender From Clinton Arrested Again – WHITFIELD

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Central Huron resident is facing criminal charges after he was caught with a stolen pickup truck near Belfast. 

On January 25, 2022 at approximately 10:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling on Belfast Road when they came across a pickup truck being pulled out of the ditch. 

Upon speaking with the driver and completing some checks on the vehicle the investigating officer determined the vehicle was in fact stolen from London. In addition, the attached licence plates were not authorized to be on the pickup truck. 

The driver was promptly arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Nollan WHITFIELD, 36 years of age from Clinton has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Fail to Comply with Probation Order and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 14, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested Following Foot Chase In Wingham

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a local man after he was caught with a stolen snowmobile this week in Wingham. 

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on January 31, 2022 a Huron OPP officer took notice of a man that parked a snowmobile in a suspicious manner at a gas station in Wingham. When the driver of the snowmobile went into the gas station the officer completed some checks on the machine and it was quickly determined it was recently stolen from Saugeen Shores. 

When the operator returned to the snowmobile he immediately took off running when he noticed the officer. A foot pursuit ensued and the suspect initially escaped custody however he was eventually tracked to a nearby backyard and was taken into custody. 

 Michael VOCK, 44 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with:

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

·        Escape Lawful Custody

·        Resist Peace Officer

·        Fail to Comply with Release Order – 6 counts

·        Operation While Prohibited – 5 counts

·        Driving While Under Suspension

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 3, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
