22 Year Old From Teeswater Charged For Refusing To Blow

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A young driver from Teeswater is facing a Refusal charge following a traffic incident investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week. 

Just after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 a witness called police to report a motor vehicle was stuck in a farmer’s field off of Howick-Turnberry Road. Soon after officers arrived on scene and spoke with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol therefore a demand was made for a roadside test. 

The driver ultimately failed to provide a suitable breath sample; as a result he was placed under arrest and charged. 

Dylan SOEHNER, 22 years of age, from Teeswater has been charged with Refusal to Comply with Demand. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 2, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Charged Child Abducted -ALLICOCK

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – Further charges have been laid against an Etobicoke resident as a result of an ongoing investigation in Perth County.

On October 18, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with the assistance of the Toronto Police Service, arrested and charged one person with Abduction of Person Under 14.

On March 22, 2022, Corygon ALLICOCK, 36-years-old of Etobicoke, was arrested and charged with:

–       Invitation to Sexual Touching of a person under 16 years of age, contrary to Section 152 Criminal Code – two counts

–       Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by means of Telecommunication for a sexual purpose, contrary to Section CC 172.1(1)(b) Criminal Code

–       Failure to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code

The accused, who was held in custody pending a bail hearing, was previously charged with Abduction of a Person Under 14, contrary to Section 281 of the Criminal Code.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

TOYE – Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – A London resident is facing an Impaired Operation – 80 Plus charge following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this month.   

On Sunday, March 13, 2022 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Huron County OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Morrison Line at Hensall Road when a pickup truck entered the checkpoint.  

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer learned the driver had been consuming some alcohol. As a result, a demand was made for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. The driver complied and his subsequent test resulted in a fail. 

The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit. 

James TOYE, 28 years of age from London has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 11, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

More Impaired Drivers – MORRISON, MANYUAT, SCARROW & MITCHELL

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – Four more people have been charged with impaired related offences in Perth County, and each was located by a different circumstance.

On March 12, 2022, just before 7:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Perth Line 37, in the Township of Perth East.

During the investigation, the driver was showing signs of alcohol consumption, but refused to comply with the Approved Screening Device demand.

Nicholas MORRISON, 23, of Waterloo, has been charged with:

–      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

On March 13, 2022, just after 11:45 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle with a burned out headlight on Main Street, Atwood, in the Municipality of North Perth.

During the investigation, the driver was showing signs of alcohol consumption. An Approved Screening Device was used, and the driver was arrested, and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Steven MANYUAT, 52, of Harriston, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on March 17, 2022, just after 11:30 p.m., on Line 32, in West Perth, when a vehicle stop was conducted. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device was used, and they were arrested, and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Daniel SCARROW, 44, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)                                                                                       

On March 18, 2022, just after 6:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received traffic complaints from citizens who witnesses concerning driving behaviour that made them believe the driver was possibly impaired. A traffic stop was conducted on Perth Road 119.

During the investigation, the driver was showing signs of impairment. The driver was arrested, and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Jameson MITCHELL, 21, of Tavistock, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

All of the accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

19 Year Old Arrested For Spousal Assault

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a West Perth resident after it was learned that a person was assaulted during a past domestic argument.

On March 11, 2022, police were investigating a report of harassment involving two people who used to be in a relationship. During the investigation, it was disclosed that one person had assaulted the other during an argument in January in the Municipality of West Perth. The victim was not injured.

A 19-year-old resident of West Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – Spousal

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Drunk Drunk Drivers Arrested

On March 8, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Elora Street North, Harriston. It was reported that a white sedan had driven past a school bus while it was stopped for students. As a result of the investigation the owner of the vehicle, a 52-year-old from Elmira, has been charged with Failing to Stop for a School Bus (Owner). The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph.

On March 8, 2022, at approximately 6:00 p.m. Wellington County (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Second Line, north of Belwood. It was reported that a courier van had driven past a school bus while it was stopped for students. As a result of the investigation Adifete ZYMBERRI, 26-years-old of Kitchener, has been charged with Failing to Stop for a School Bus – Signal Lights Activated and Driving while under Suspension. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph.

On March 17, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m. Wellington County OPP received a traffic complaint of a black pickup truck being operated in an erratic manner on Wellington Road 87, west of Harriston. Officers located the vehicle and as a result of the investigation, William F. MCKINNON, 62 years-old of Atwood has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.* 

On March 17, 2022, officers from the Guelph Police Service and Wellington County OPP conducted a joint Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) event at various locations throughout Guelph and Wellington County. Officers estimate that over 400 drivers were engaged during this one day RIDE event.  At approximately 5:00 p.m. a pickup truck entered one of those RIDE checks on the Hanlon Expressway. As a result of the investigation, John STEWART, 34 years-old of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100 mL of blood) and Operation while Prohibited, contrary to the Criminal Code.*

On March 17, 2022, at approximately 11:15 p.m. Wellington County OPP initiated an impaired driving investigation of the driver of a black pick-up truck on Garafraxa Street West, Fergus. As a result of an investigation, Steven Ross SUTTON, 26-years-old of Grand Valley, has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood), contrary to the Criminal Code.*

On March 18, 2022, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Brock Road North, Puslinch. It was reported that a white sedan was being driven erratically. Police located the vehicle and as a result of the investigation, Brandon BORTOLOTTO, 37-years-old of Hamilton, has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol in 100mL of blood), contrary to the Criminal Code.*

On March 20, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint about a white passenger vehicle on Wellington Road 109, near Teviotdale. Officers located the vehicle and as a result of the investigation, Wai-Fong YIP, 66-years-old of Markham, has been charged with Stunt Driving, Careless Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle in Contravention of Conditions. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph.

*All accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, unless otherwise noted.

Anyone charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Refusing to Provide a Sample of breath receives a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

Sexual Assault In Listowel – One From Palmerston Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a charge in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in the Municipality of North Perth earlier this month.

On March 8, 2022, police were contacted by the adult victim, who reported that they were sexually assaulted at a residence in Listowel by a person who they had met on the internet on March 4, 2022. An arrest warrant was sought, and on March 21, 2022, the accused was arrested in Gravenhurst.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old resident of Palmerston was charged with:

–      Sexual Assault Cause Bodily Harm

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

PETROPOULOS Arrested Again

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A mischief charge has been laid in the Township of Perth East after a person was interfering with another person’s use of property.

On March 9, 2022, just after 7:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to Milverton for a person who was bothering others with their behaviour. As a result of the investigation, one person was taken into custody.

Alexander PETROPOULOS, 28, of Perth East, has been charged with:

–      Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

–      Public Mischief

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Death Threats – PETROPOULOS

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person was charged after threatening another in the Township of Perth East.

On March 8, 2022, just before 3:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to Milverton for a person who was threatening others and damaging property. One person was taken into custody.

Shot Fired – One Airlifted To Hospital

(BLUEWATER, ON) – On March 20, 2022 at approximately 5:19 p.m., Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and Brucefield Fire Department responded to an altercation located west of Brucefield on Bannockburn Line.

Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim that had sustained injuries from a gunshot. 

The victim was transported to hospital by air ambulance and he currently remains in hospital with serious but stable injuries.

Two accused were taken into custody on firearms related charges.

The Huron County OPP Crime Unit continues to investigate and further information will be released when available. 

Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no evidence to suggest there is any threat to public safety.

Deceased Recovered From Maitland River

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a motor vehicle collision that occurred late Friday night near Ethel.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, Huron County OPP responded to Ethel Line just south of Ethel after receiving information about a vehicle that had left the roadway and ended up in the Maitland River.

OPP Underwarter Search & Recovery Unit (USRU) and OPP Urban Search and Rescue, Chemical Biological, Radiological Nuclear and Explosives Response Team (UCRT) members attended the scene this afternoon to assist with recovery efforts. At approximately 6:00 p.m. officers were able to recover a lone deceased occupant from the submerged pickup.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time.

Ethel Line is now open.

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team officers are assisting with the collision investigation.

More Stunt Drivers Charged

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three more Kitchener drivers after they were stopped while stunt driving in Perth County.

On March 5, 2022, just after 8:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 86, east of Listowel, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 140km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Kuldeep SINGH JHINJER, 28, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–      Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

On March 15, 2022, just before 10:00 a.m., police observed a vehicle on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, that was travelling in excess of 130km/h in an 80km/h limit zone. By the time the officer was able to safely conduct a traffic stop, the same vehicle was also observed to be travelling in excess of 111km/h in a 60km/h limit zone.

Edward PETRITA, 20, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–      Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

On March 16, 2022, just after 11:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 86, in the Municipality of North Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 136km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Naga CHANDRALA, 25, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–      Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

In each incident, a 30-day-driving suspension and fourteen day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. 

In 2021, changes to the provincial stunt driving laws saw a decrease in the threshold for what is considered racing, to 40km/h over the speed limit, or higher, on roads with a posted speed limit that is less than 80km/h. It is still considered stunt driving when a vehicle is travelling 50km/h over the speed limit (or higher) on roads that are 80km/h or higher.

Arrest Made For Threats Made Online

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person was charged after they posted threats on the internet.

On March 16, 2022 the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of threats that had been made on a social media platform towards another person.

Through the investigation, the accused was identified as the person responsible for making the threats.

Sherri GALLAGHER, 41, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–       Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Tomasz KRAJEWSKI – Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Another theft has resulted in a shoplifting charge in Listowel.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a business on Mitchell Road South, Listowel on March 4, 2022, just after 2:00 p.m., after a person was witnessed shoplifting by store staff. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

Tomasz KRAJEWSKI, 46, of Etobicoke, has been charged with:

–       Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

$26,000 Drug Bust – BERGEN, MACDONALD, BOLT & TOMA

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – On March 14, 2022, just after 3:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) conducted a traffic stop on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, after a drug trafficking investigation in the Municipality of West Perth. The three occupants of the vehicle were found in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and heroin, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia, and cash. The total estimated value of the drugs is approximately $26,000.

In addition, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant was executed at a residence on St. David Street, in the Municipality of West Perth. One person was located inside and arrested. As a result of the search warrant, police seized methamphetamine, psilocybin, two prohibited weapons, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Further investigation is ongoing in relation to identity documents located at the residence, which are believed to be stolen.

Raven BERGEN, 28, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin

–       Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose

–       Possession of a Schedule III Substance

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order (three counts)

Kenneth MACDONALD, 51, of St. Marys, has been charged with:

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin

Chad BOLT, 49, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin

The accused parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Gavin TOMA, 23, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

–       Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose (two counts)
