Baby Assaulted – 27 Year Old Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident after it was learned that two people, including a baby, were assaulted during a past domestic argument.

On May 9, 2022, police were investigating a report of domestic dispute between two people who used to be in a relationship. During the investigation, it was disclosed that one person had assaulted the other during an argument that occurred in December 2021, in the Municipality of North Perth. The victim was not injured, but they were holding a baby at the time, who was also struck, causing minor injuries.

A 27-year-old resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – Spousal

–      Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Murder In Grand Bend – Three In Custody – Names Released

(GRAND BEND, ON) – Three individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with a homicide in Grand Bend.

Officers from the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Anishinabek Police Service (APS) Kettle Point responded to an assault in a parking lot on Huron Street at approximately 10:00 p.m. on May 13, 2022. Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported a victim to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Zacharey HARTMAN, age 27 of Exeter.

Officers relayed information about a suspect vehicle to neighbouring counties. Perth County OPP members arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.     

Michael COMPTON, 18-years-old and Evan RADTKE, 22-years-old, both from Stratford, have been charged with:

  • Second -degree murder, pursuant to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

Madison HICKS, 21-years-old of West Perth, has been charged with the following:

  • Accessory after the fact to Murder, pursuant to section 240 of the Criminal Code.

The accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) with assistance from Lambton OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

Officer Assaulted – Kyle GORDON Charged

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with three criminal charges following an incident that took place in Exeter last weekend. 

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 Huron OPP officers responded to an Anne Street residence to help remove an individual from the premise as he was no longer welcome. Upon arrival the irate man began yelling, screaming and causing a disturbance in the middle of the road.   

When the officer attempted to arrest the accused the man resisted and assaulted the officer. 

Kyle GORDON, 27 years of age from South Huron has been charged with: Causing a Disturbance, Resist Peace Officer and Assault a Peace Officer. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 30, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

John GOLDSWORTHY – Drugs, Drive While Suspended

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Central Huron resident will have to make a trip to court this summer to answer to some charges following a recent traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On April 25, 2022 at approximately 9:03 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was on patrol near Vanastra when he initiated a traffic stop on a suspended driver. A driver’s licence query was completed and it confirmed the driver indeed had a suspended driver’s licence. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest and searched. The subsequent search revealed the driver was also in possession of suspected Oxycodone without a prescription. 

John GOLDSWORTHY, 49 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Oxycodone & Drive While Under Suspension.

The accused has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 23, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Speeder Arrested For Drunk Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On May 6, 2022, just before 12:00 a.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol was travelling on Line 20, in the Municipality of West Perth, when they conducted a traffic stop for speeding.

During the investigation, the driver was showing signs of alcohol consumption. An Approved Screening Device was used, and the driver was arrested, and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Marshall WINKLEMAIER, 20, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 30-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge. 

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

31 Year Old Arrested For Suspected Drunk Driving

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On May 9, 2022, at 12:28 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an erratic driver on George Street in the Town of Wiarton.

While on route, an OPP officer spotted the motor vehicle, and initiated a traffic stop. The officer spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP detachment where further testing was administered.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Taylia ROBSON, 31 years-of-age from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Lucknow Repeat Offender Arrested Again

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A resident of Lucknow is now facing charges after he was caught driving when he shouldn’t have been. 

On Sunday, May 8, 2022 at approximately 12:58 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer initiated a traffic stop of a sport utility vehicle that was travelling on Lucknow Line near Zion Road. Upon speaking with the driver and completing some checks the investigating officer learned the driver was currently prohibited from driving. In addition, the driver was found to be complying with a condition of his probation order. 

Robin WELLSTEAD, 52 years of age from Lucknow has been charged with: Operation While Prohibited – 3 counts, Driving While Under Suspension and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. 

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 30, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Arrest On Blyth Road

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with Impaired Operation & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend. 

On Sunday, May 8, 2022 at approximately 9:07 p.m. Huron County OPP officers received information about a car that was travelling on Blyth Road near Clyde Line in an erratic manner. Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and a few minutes later an officer located the vehicle just outside of Blyth.

A traffic stop was initiated and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. Additionally, the investigating officer observed open alcohol inside the vehicle. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit. 

Erica MERRICK, 41 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 13, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Jeffrey LEWIS – Impaired Driving

 (PERTH EAST, ON) – Another impaired driver was arrested in Perth County.

On May 8, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol was travelling on Perth Line 72, in the Township of Perth East, when they conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, the officer determined the driver was impaired. They were arrested and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Jeffrey LEWIS, 35, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

60 Year Old From Brockton Arrested

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On May 9, 2022, at 5:23 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspected impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle on Concession 8 in Brant Township and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Rose WEBER, 60-years-old, from the Municipality of Brockton was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

21 Year Old From Mapleton Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On May 5, 2022, just after midnight, an officer from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol and observed a vehicle in a parking lot on Mitchell Road South in Listowel, with the driver’s side door open.

When the officer approached the vehicle, they observed a lone male sleeping in the driver’s seat. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. A roadside screening device was administered. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP detachment for further testing.

William LOWE, 21-year-old of Mapleton, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Impaired Driver From Meaford Arrested

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) On May 4, 2022 at 3:56 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 10 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP detachment where further testing was administered. There were no injuries reported.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Dylan CANN, 30 years-of-age from the Township of Meaford with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Drunk Driver Arrested Near Wingham – John MACGREGOR

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) early this morning. 

This morning at approximately 1:42 a.m. (05May) a Huron County OPP officer stopped a pickup truck south of Wingham after he noticed it matched the description of a vehicle that was seen earlier by a citizen travelling in an erratic manner.     

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. As a result, the driver completed a roadside screening test and registered a “Fail”.   

Consequently, the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests.  Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit. 

John MACGREGOR, 28 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 20, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Clinton – Michael SHELLEY

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A recent traffic in stop in Clinton for a vehicle that wasn’t displaying a front licence plate resulted in a whole lot more than a ticket for a London resident. 

Just before 10:00 p.m. on April 14, 2022, a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a car parked without a front licence plate attached to the vehicle. The driver exited onto Albert Street and a traffic stop was initiated. As soon as the officer activated his emergency lights and siren the driver sped up and fled from the officer. 

The driver drove dangerously, through a traffic signal, over a sidewalk and over a median. Soon after driving over the median the vehicle broke down and officers were able to locate and arrest the driver. 

Upon arrest a search was completed and officers found suspected methamphetamine, break-in tools, brass knuckles, stolen identification and a pellet gun. Further checks on the driver revealed he was failing to comply with numerous conditions of his probation order.

Michael SHELLEY, 35 years of age from London has been charged with Flight from Police Officer, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operation While Prohibited, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Break & Enter Instruments, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – 6 counts, Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 3 counts, and Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Probation Order – 5 counts as well as three Highway Traffic Act offences. 

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 18, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Collision Sends One To Hospital

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – One person was charged after a collision in Perth County that caused non-life threatening injuries.

On April 27, 2022, just after 7:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a two vehicle collision on Hwy 7-19 in the Township of Perth South. The investigation indicated that a vehicle was trying to make a turn, when it was rear ended by another vehicle. One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Joel MACDONALD, 25, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Careless driving

The accused was issued a Provincial Notice for the offence.
