Tractor Trailer Driver Attempts To Flee Scene After Causing Collision – Dilpreet SINGH Arrested

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On November 29, 2020, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with the Guelph Police Service, Guelph Fire Department, and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service responded to a three-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles. The collision occurred at the intersection of Hanlon Parkway at Kortright Road in the City of Guelph.

Initial reports indicated that a northbound tractor-trailer collided into the back of a vehicle causing a chain-reaction collision. The driver of tractor-trailer ran from the scene and was arrested nearby by members of the Guelph Police Service.  The truck driver was then turned over to the OPP.

Two occupants in one of the vehicles were transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Dilpreet SINGH, 25-years-old of Brampton has been charged with two counts Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm and two counts of Fail to Stop at Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on January 8, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Repeat Offender Donald FERGUSON Arrested Again – Methamphetamine & Crack Cocaine

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On November 8, 2020 at approximately 5:00 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were on general patrol on Lakeshore Road, Municipality of Lambton Shores. 

Lambton OPP members located the vehicle stopped in a live lane of traffic. The officer approached the vehicle and located the driver asleep in the driver seat. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment and performed a drug recognition evaluation. 

Further search of the vehicle located suspected methamphetamine and crack cocaine. 

Donald FERGUSON, 52 years-old of Kincardine, has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drug, Failure to comply with Release Order (Two counts) and Failure to Comply with Undertaking, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was also charged with two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance, pursuant to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. 

The accused was held in custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia.

Peter Hendrikus VANDERPAS – Drunk Driving

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On November 25, 2020 at approximately 1:20 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Main Street in the Town of Erin.

Witnesses observed a person showing signs of impairment enter a red passenger vehicle and drive out of a parking lot.

Police located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Peter Hendrikus VANDERPAS, 57-years-old of Erin has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code and Driving While Suspended contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on December 18, 2020 to answer to the charges.

David HILLYER Arrested Again

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On November 25, 2020 at 12:50 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a (white) pick-up truck on Highway 6, near the Wiarton OPP detachment in South Bruce Peninsula.

Police spoke with the driver, who was currently bound by release conditions resulting from an unrelated police occurrence. This person was found to not be complying with these conditions and was arrested.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged David HILLYER, 39 years-of-age from Northern Bruce Peninsula, ON with failing to comply with Release Order, section 145(5)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is required to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 14, 2021.

Mason BRYDGES – Drunk Driving

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On November 23, 2020 at 11:41 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a (grey) pick-up truck on Highway 6 & 21, on the Sunset Strip, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The driver failed a roadside screening device. They were arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth for a breath test.

A breath test, conducted by a qualified breath technician at the detachment, recorded readings that were over the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Mason BRYDGES, 18 years-of-age, from Guelph, ON with operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mg or more, section 320.14(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the involved vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 28, 2021.

Riyad SIMOQY 130+ in an 80

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A driver from London has been charged with Racing following a traffic stop conducted by a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer earlier this week.

On Monday, November 23, 2020 at approximately 9:10 a.m. a Huron OPP officer observed a car travelling on London Road near Whalen Line at a high rate of speed. The officer utilized a RADAR device and measured the speed of the racing vehicle at a speed in excess of 50 km/h over the posted 80 km/h limit.

The investigating officer noted wet snow was falling and the roadway was slippery at the time of the traffic stop. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was charged.

Riyad SIMOQY, 22 years of age from London has been charge with Racing. He now has a court date scheduled for January 5, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Sypder & Generator Stolen

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a recent theft of items taken from a property located on Corbett Line earlier this month.

The victim in this investigation reported to police that sometime between November 12, 2020 and November 19, 2020 those responsible for the theft attended his property located on Corbett line and stole the following items:

A grey 2011 model Can-Am Spyder RT 3-wheel motorcycle valued at $15,000.

A black & red Briggs and Stratton 8 kw gasoline powered generator valued at $1,500

An orange and white Stihl brand chainsaw with a 14 blade valued at $300

An unknown make utility trailer valued at approximately $300.

Xavier BARBER – Drunk Driving

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A novice driver from London is facing three charges following a crash that took place last night near Kippen.

Shortly after 9:22 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on London Road (Highway 4) near Kippen Road. Upon arrival officers located a compact car that had left the roadway into the steep ditch on the east side of the road.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was fortunate that he only sustained minor injuries in the crash however his good fortunes quickly changed when the investigating officer noticed alcohol on the driver’s breath. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail.

The driver was subsequently arrested and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the intoxilizer technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Xavier BARBER, 20 years of age from London has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus, Novice Driver BAC Above Zero and Young Driver BAC Above Zero. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 4, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Stratford Driver Caught Going 170 in an 80

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A Stratford driver is going to be walking for a week after they were caught driving more than double the speed limit in West Perth.

On November 19 2020, just after 11:00 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle on the Perth Line 34, in the Municipality of West Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 170km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Nickademus VAN HORN, 28, of Stratford, has been charged with:

Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

More Break And Enters

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Three rural residential properties were victim to break and enters last week after unknown suspects committed a series of thefts in the Township of Perth East.

On November 17 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received three reports of break and enters that had occurred sometime overnight at properties on Perth Line 39 and Perth Line 36, in the Township of Perth East. Garages and sheds were entered, and unlocked vehicles entered. Items stolen include various tools, electronics, a bag, clothing, as well as a small amount of cash and gift cards. The total value of all the stolen property was less than $2000.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to prevent these crimes from happening.

It is possible that more break and enters occurred in the area, but were not reported. The Perth County OPP encourages citizens to report these incidents, and reports can now be submitted online, regardless of value, where there is no evidence at the scene or no suspects. The user can easily log into www.opp.ca/reporting to see a complete list of eligible occurrences, and choose their location to begin the report. This will take the user to a secure link where they will be given precise instructions on how to fill out the report.

Drunk Driver In Ditch Charged – THUKRAL

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On November 22, 2020 at approximately 8:55 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch and the driver was possibly impaired on Fife Road near Wellington Road 32 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. It was reported that witnesses observed the vehicle enter the ditch and the driver was asking for assistance getting it out.

22 Year Old Drunk Driver In Field Arrested – BOOY

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 20, 2020 at approximately 12:30 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle in a field near Highway 6 near the Fourth Line in Centre Wellington Township.

Police located the vehicle parked in the field with the engine running and lights illuminated. Officers spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Nathan BOOY, 22-years-old of Nichol Township has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. Timothy PRESTIPINO – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 21, 2020, at approximately 12:25 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling eastbound on St. Andrew Street East in Fergus.

Bishnu SUBEDI – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On November 20, 2020, at approximately 10:50 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling southbound on Highway 6. It was reported that the vehicle struck the centre median, was swerving all over the road, varying speeds and almost caused a head on collision.

Police located the vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke to the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Two Arrested Following Weapons Call In Wiarton

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On November 22, 2020 at 9:37 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a person running with an object, resembling a rifle, near a residence at William Street in Wiarton, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Police patrolled the area and set up containment around a residence at William Street.

Police were able to contact the parties inside the house, and both occupants vacated the residence without incident. No firearm was recovered.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jesse DROUILLARD, 22 years-of-age from South Bruce Peninsula, ON and Kristina HILL, 30 years-of-age from South Bruce Peninsula, ON with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – opioid, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

Failing to comply with Undertaking, section 145(4)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.

Both of the accused were released on an Undertaking and they are required to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 14, 2021.
