Home Invasion – Joel TURNER Arrested Again

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after they broke into a residence in the Municipality of West Perth.

On November 30 2020, just before 6:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter that had just occurred at a residence on Perth Road 180, and the suspect was still in the residence. The home owners were present at the time, and managed to exit the residence to call police.

When police arrived on scene, they found the suspect had damaged a door to gain entry into the residence, and was in possession of a knife. The suspect was arrested without incident.

As a result, Joel Jeffrey TURNER, 31, has been charged with:

  • Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Attempted Theft Of ATM Cash Box In Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after suspects attended a gas station in the Municipality of North Perth and attempted to steal the cash box from the Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

On November 28, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m., two suspects attended the gas station on Mitchell Road South, Listowel, and identified themselves as “security personnel”. The first suspect had an ID badge and opened the ATM with a key. Staff became suspicious when the suspects pressed buttons on the screen, which resulted in an “error”. When an employee confronted the suspects, they quickly left the business in a vehicle.

The suspects are described as:

  • Suspect 1 – Male, 5’9″, older, with some grey hair and facial hair, wearing dark glasses, a dark jacket, and a face mask
  • Suspect 2 – Male, dark hair, wearing a blue shirt with “security” written on it.

The suspects left in a vehicle, which was a blue BMW 320i, with a licence plate of CPVT925.

Tyler MANLEY-POOLE – Impaired Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A 21-year-old driver has been charged with impaired driving after a collision on Perth Line 34 last week.

On November 30 2020, just after 3:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Perth Line 34, near Road 102, in the Township of Perth East. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was travelling eastbound, when it left the roadway and hit a culvert in the ditch. The vehicle then continued driving in the ditch for a while before stopping. The lone occupant of the vehicle was not injured, and was arrested at the scene for impaired driving.

As a result, Tyler MANLEY-POOLE, 21, of Stratford, has been charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

A 90-day driving suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Fatal Collision Near Wroxeter

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently on scene of a two-vehicle fatal crash that has taken place southwest of Wroxeter.

This evening at approximately 6:38 p.m., Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and area firefighters responded to the crash scene located on Brussels Line (Huron County Road #12) just north of C Line Road.

A pickup truck and sport utility vehicle collided head-on.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and was later pronounced deceased.  

The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Krystal MCEWEN from Kitchener.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. 

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are currently on scene assisting with the collision investigation.

Brussels Line (Huron County Road #12) remains closed between Amberley Road and Harriston Road. Please take an alternate route to avoid a delay.

Owl Stuck In Grille Saved

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On December 5, 2020 at 10:36 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Highway 21 in the Municipality of Kincardine. The responding officer arrived and found a Snowy Owl was stuck in the vehicle’s grille.

Investigation revealed that the owl had flown into the driver’s path causing minor damage to the vehicle and an injury to the owl’s wing.

The injured owl was picked up by Another Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation service where it will be cared for.

Two More Drunk Drivers – LUDWIG & UJAGARSINGH

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment have charged two individuals with drinking and driving offences in Haldimand County.

On Friday December 4, 2020 at 6:16 p.m., OPP responded to a traffic hazard complaint on Highway 6 in Caledonia where it was reported a pickup truck towing a trailer appeared broken down and was partially in a live lane of traffic.

During the interaction with the driver, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

Officers administered an Approved Screening Device test which the driver had failed.

OPP has charged 33-year-old Daniel LUDWIG of Mount Hope, ON with:

  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

Just over four hours later at 10:25 p.m., OPP responded to Haldimand Road 55 near Highway 6 in Jarvis after a passer-by noticed a vehicle in the ditch.

When officers spoke with the driver, signs of impairment were detected and the driver was placed under arrest.

OPP has charged 30-year-old Christopher UJAGARSINGH of Oakville, ON with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

The accused individuals had their drivers licences suspended for a minimum of 90 days and vehicles were impounded.

Both are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

21 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On December 5, 2020 at 2:43 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a (black) car on Highway 6, near Pike Bay Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula, that was travelling over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) in this posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jaspreet RAI, 21 years-of-age, from Mississauga, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

Drone Used To Smuggle Drugs Into London Prison

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On Sunday, December 7, 2020 at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of the London Police Service (LPS) Guns and Drugs Section, completed an investigation into drug smuggling at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre (EMDC) in the City of London.  

Police located two suspects on Meg Drive in possession of a remotely-controlled drone and a large quantity of controlled substances, including: crack cocaine, Adderall, amphetamines, fentanyl, crystal meth and cannabis and a quantity of Canadian currency.  

Police have charged Abdulla-Walid KADDOURAH,28-years-old of London, ON with:  

  •  Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine as per section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine as per section 5(2) of the CDSA.
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) as per Section 5(2) of the CDSA.
  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs as per section 5(2) of the CDSA.
  • Two counts of Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court as per section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

Police have also charged Fiseha GIRMAY,18-years-old London, ON with:  

  •  Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine as per section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine as per section 5(2) of the CDSA.
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) as per Section 5(2) of the CDSA.
  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs as per section 5(2) of the CDSA.
  • Two counts of Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).

Both parties have been remanded into police custody and are scheduled to appear in the London, Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 7, 2020.

Homicide – Eric Jerome SMOKE Wanted By Police – Do Not Approach

(SIX NATIONS OF THE GRAND RIVER TERRITORY, ON) – Members of West Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Units, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), are assisting Six Nations Police Service and are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a wanted individual in connection with the homicide of 27-year old Andrew DAVIS of Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.

The Six Nations Police Service currently holds an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Eric Jerome SMOKE. It is believed that he will be heading towards the Hamilton, Ontario area. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

The suspect is described as an indigenous male, 5’11, 148 pounds, black hair, brown eyes and gold teeth. He has a “SMOKE” banner tattoo around a skull and rose on his left arm. 

No attempt should be made to approach this suspect as he is considered to be possibly armed and dangerous. If observed, members of the public should contact police by immediately dialing 9-1-1 or their nearest police authority. Seth LUMLEY Facing Arson Charges

(Central Elgin) Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have arrested and charged a 20 year old London, ON. resident with arson after police responded to a travel trailer fire just after midnight on the 4th of December, 2020.

The call came in around 12:35 am with a report of a travel trailer fire in the area of Stone Church Rd, Central Elgin. Central Elgin Fire along with police responded to the call discovering that a mattress appeared to have been purposely set on fire next to travel trailer. The fire spread to the travel trailer causing extensive damage to the rear of the trailer. An estimate of damages has not yet been completed. It was also discovered that a book exchange box at the front of the property had also been purposely set on fire.

As a result of the investigation police have arrested and charged Seth LUMLEY, age 20 of London Ontario with;

  1. 2X Arson contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code X2
  2. Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code.

LUMLEY remains in custody pending a show cause bail hearing.

Teens Arrested Following Armed Robbery In Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Three youths are facing charges following a robbery that occurred in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 03 2020, just after 8:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a robbery that had just occurred on Binning Street West, Listowel. The three suspects demanded the victim empty their pockets, while one of the suspects held a knife. One item was stolen from the victim.

Two of the three suspects were located a short distance away, and arrested for the robbery. When searched, the victim’s property was located damaged. 

As a result, a 17-year-old resident of North Perth, has been charged with:

  • Robbery with a Weapon
  • Mischief Under $5000

Another two youths, both 15-year-old residents of North Perth, were also charged with:

  • Robbery with a Weapon
  • Mischief Under $5000

All three accused youths were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. 

The suspects and the victim were known to each other, and this is believed to be an isolated incident. There is no risk to public safety.

17 Year Old Repeat Offender Arrested Again In Listowel – Assault With Weapon, etc.

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been arrested following an assault with a weapon that occurred in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 01 2020, just before 1:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a person that was trespassing at a residence on Davidson Avenue North, Listowel. The suspect, who is a youth, was also wanted on outstanding charges relating to an assault with a weapon that had occurred on November 18 2020. There were no injuries sustained as a result of the assault. The youth was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, a 17-year-old youth from North Perth, has been charged with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause Bodily Harm or Death
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order
  • Breach of Recognizance
  • Mischief Over $5000 (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

More Racers Busted – BAKER, WILLIS, RAMANI, WALKER & FAIRCLOUGH

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – A number of people have been charged with stunt racing in Perth County recently, including one driver who was travelling double the speed limit after consuming alcohol.

On November 19 2020, just after 11:30 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle travelling on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 147km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, David Harold BAKER, 55, of West Perth, has been charged with:

  • Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

On November 22 2020, just before 2:30 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 43, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 133km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Douglas Fredrick WILLIS, 24, of Brant County, has been charged with:

  • Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

On November 27 2020, just after 10:30 p.m., a Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 138km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Kevin Vallabhbhai RAMANI, 25, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

  • Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

On November 27 2020, just before 11:30 p.m., a Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 153km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Kyle Joel WALKER, 23, of Stratford, has been charged with:

  • Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed
  • Insecure Load – Commercial Motor Vehicle

On November 28 2020, just before 2:00 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 169km/h in an 80km/h limit zone, more than double the legal limit. The investigation also revealed the driver, who has a novice driver’s licence, had consumed alcohol.

As a result, Jorja FAIRCLOUGH, 19, of Toronto, has been charged with:

  • Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Careless Driving

In each incident, a seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused drivers are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Listowel Beak And Enter – SHARPIN & YORKE-THOMAS

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Two people are facing charges after they broke into a residence in the Municipality of North Perth.

On November 23 2020, just before 3:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter in progress at an apartment building on Inkerman Street West, Listowel. The suspects had broken into the laundry room of the apartment building, where they caused damage to a washing machine.

When police arrived on scene moments later, the suspects were observed attempting to flee on foot. One suspect was arrested immediately, and one was located and arrested a short time later.

As a result, Randi Elizabeth SHARPIN, 25, of North Perth, has been charged with:

  • Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Mischief Under $5000

Also, Damien YORKE-THOMAS, 26, of North Perth, has been charged with:

  • Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Mischief Under $5000

The accused parties were released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Cyclist Killed – MILLER Facing Criminal Code Charge

(ST. CLAIR TWP, ON) – On August 22, 2020 at approximately 10:00 a.m. the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and St. Clair Fire Department attended Petrolia Line, St. Clair Township in relation to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle.  

Melissa MILLER, 38 year old of St. Clair TWP, was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Death, pursuant to the Criminal Code.  

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on January 11, 2021.
