Truck Stolen During Break & Enter

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On Thursday August 5, 2021 just after 8:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break, enter and theft to a business in the Municipality of West Perth.

Sometime between August 4, 2021 and August 5, 2021 unknown person(s) entered a business in Monkton, removed keys for multiple motor vehicles and stole a truck owned by the business. The value of all items taken is estimated to be over $20,000. The investigation is currently on-going at this time

Arrest Made In Homicide Investigation

 (SOUTHGATE, ON) – Investigators have charged one individual following a joint investigation into the murder of a Hamilton woman in 2018.

On August 17, 2021, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Hamilton Police Service, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), arrested and charged Ahmet NIKCI, 40-years old of no fixed address with Second Degree Murder and Indignity to a Body.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Hamilton at a later date.

On December 24, 2019, the remains of Monica CHISAR were found in the area of Southgate Road 10, east of Highway 6 in the Township of Southgate. The deceased was last seen in Hamilton on July 11, 2018 and was reported missing by her family in September 2018.

Police would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this ongoing investigation.

Pervert Alert – Sexual Assault At Point Farms Provincial Park

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), including members of the Huron OPP Crime Unit, are currently investigating a sexual assault that took place at a campground located north of Goderich.

Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, Huron County OPP responded to Point Farms Provincial Park to investigate a report of a sexual assault.

The adult victim was in a public shower/washroom area, when she was confronted by a stranger and groped. The victim was able to defend herself and quickly ran to a place of safety.

The suspect is described as a brown-skinned male, approximately 40 years of age. He is approximately 5’6″ in height, balding with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt. 

The Huron County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. Charge Laid In Fatal Collision Involving Motorcycle – Name Of Deceased Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with Careless Driving Cause Death in connection with a fatal collision that took place in early July.   

On July 3, 2021 at approximately 2:52 p.m. Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services, South Huron Fire Department and Air Orng responded to the crash scene located on Thames Road East east of Exeter. 

Upon arrival the driver of a motorcycle was transported from the scene to hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. On July 24, 2021 the motorcycle driver died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The deceased has been identified as Anthony PAIVA, 58 years of age, from Shakespeare, ON. 

The subsequent investigation has determined the driver of a compact vehicle was travelling westbound on Thames Road East when the driver attempted to pass a pickup truck. During the pass the compact vehicle collided with the pickup truck, lost control and veered into the oncoming lane whereupon it collided with the motorcycle. 

The driver of the compact vehicle, 35-year-old Selemawit HABTE, from Kitchener has been charged with Careless Driving Cause Death. A court appearance has been scheduled for October 5, 2021 at Provincial Offences Court in Goderich. 

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team members attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

Fatal Collision – Deceased Identified

(MUNICIPALITY OF BROCKTON, ON) – On August 15, 2021 just before 8:30 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Side Road 5, in the Municipality of Brockton. Officers responded with members of the Brockton Fire Department and Bruce County Paramedic Service.

A single vehicle had left the roadway, striking a tree. Firefighters had to extricate the driver, who was taken to a trauma centre by Ornge Air Ambulance with life threatening injuries.

One person was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Brayden BERBERICH, 28, of Brockton.

The road was closed for most of the night while the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team attended and assisted with the investigation.

Lucknow Methamphetamine Bust – MARRIAGE, DEBOER, BRUNER & SHANAHAN

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On August 13, 2021, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), OPP Canine Unit and West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members executed a Search Warrant at a property along Willoughby Street in Lucknow. 

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized a quantity of Methamphetamine and Oxycodone. The estimated value of the seized controlled substances is $4,845.00. 

Police also seized offence related property including: digital scales, cell phones, a stolen pick-up truck and a stolen All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV). The estimated value of the seized property is $29,500.

Four people are facing charges as a result of this police investigation. 

Robert MARRIAGE, 46-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Opiod
  • Possess Firearm or Ammunition while Prohibited

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 27, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Jason DEBOER, 45-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Opiod
  • Possess Firearm or Ammunition while Prohibited

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 27, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Ashley BRUNER, 32-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Opiod

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 27, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Melissa SHANAHAN, 34-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Opiod

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 27, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Drug Bust

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – On August 11, 2021 at approximately 6 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit, the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Regional Canine and uniform officers executed seven simultaneous Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants at multiple locations. Police entered and secured commercial and residential properties throughout Wellington County and the City of Brampton. Police also secured a quantity of cash.

Warrants were executed at locations in Wellington North, the Town of Erin, the City of Brampton and Georgetown. Three people were arrested and charged.

Police seized cocaine, cannabis, psilocybin (psychedelic mushrooms), currency and two long guns, as well as drug production equipment. Estimated values of drugs seized is over one million dollars. Over $10,000 in currency was also seized.

The following individuals have been charged:

·      Amrit SINGH, 28-years-old of Erin.

  • Possession of Psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Percocet
  • Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling

·      Amandeep SINGH, 25-years-old of Brampton.

  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling

·      John Paul LIVINGSTON, 50-years-old of Erin.

  • Two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Two counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling

The accused are scheduled to appear at a later date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph to answer to the charges.

JUDGE Arrested For Break & Enter

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Police have arrested an individual after a break, enter and theft was completed at a property in the Municipality of North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by a resident on August 2, 2021, shortly after 1:00 p.m., after a residential break in sometime between July 28 and July 29, 2021 to a residence in Listowel. Damage was observed to an exterior door, and items were stolen from the property. 

Jaydn JUDGE, a 20-year-old resident of Listowel was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter Dwelling House- Commit Indictable Offence
  • Theft Under $5000

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity to police immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Citizens are asked to ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to assist in the prevention of some crimes.

73 Year Old Facing Counselling To Commit Murder Charge

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with Counselling to Commit Murder and Uttering Threats to Cause Death.

On Friday, July 30, 2021, the Huron County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), began an investigation into an incident in Central Huron.

As a result of the investigation, officers learned the accused communicated threats towards employees of a nearby business.

On July 31, 2021, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers from Huron County OPP located and arrested the accused in Clinton, Ontario without incident. 

Larry BOLGER, 73 years of age from Clinton, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death contrary to section 264.1 (1)(a)
  • Counselling to Commit Murder contrary to section 464 (a)

The accused is in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 13, 2021. The investigation is continuing.

Do You Recognize This Trailer?

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) –  Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is trying to track down the owner of a camper trailer that was possibly abandoned at a business just outside of Goderich.

A business at the Huron Road plaza just east of Goderich reported someone dropped off a Fleetwood “Prowler” camper trailer in the store parking lot on Sunday, August 8th around 12:39 p.m.

As of today’s date nobody has returned for this older model camper trailer. The business where the trailer is parked is hopeful the owner will return to move the trailer out of the parking lot.

Fire Investigation

(HURON TWP, ON) – On August 10, 2021 at 3:25 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of property damage to a residence along Boiler Beach Road in Huron Township. Officers responded with members of the Ripley-Huron Fire Department to find that an unoccupied home had some minor fire damage. There is no estimate on the value of the damage at this time.

The South Bruce OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Office of the Fire Marshall (OFM) are continuing to investigate. Investigators are interested in viewing any video surveillance, including dash-cam video, between 9:00 p.m. on August 8, 2021 and 6:00 a.m. on August 10, 2021. 

Suspicious vehicles or suspicious people need to be reported to police as soon as possible so that an officer can be dispatched to investigate.

Thefts In Blyth

(NORTH HURON, ON) –  Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is warning residents to take some preventative steps to thwart thieves targeting valuables left behind in vehicles following three overnight thefts in Blyth this week.

Huron OPP is currently investigating three incidents of theft from vehicles that took place earlier this week in Blyth. All three thefts are believed to have occurred during the early morning hours of August 8, 2021. 

On Morris Street thieves smashed a window out of a pickup truck and they stole a wallet that was in the centre console. The wallet was found nearby, however, the cash inside was missing.

On Gypsy Lane the thieves smashed out a pickup truck window and proceeded to steal about $8,000 worth of power tools. Some of the stolen items included a Dewalt laser, cordless drills, batteries and two Milwaukee tool boxes.

A locked enclosed trailer was broken into on Dinsley Street and the thieves made off with a brand new Dewalt drill, three cordless batteries, charger, a Mastercraft multi-tool and a Skil grinder. 

Huron OPP believes the suspects were operating a light coloured mini-van.

Suspended Driver From A-C-W Caught Again

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident with several driving related offences following a traffic stop conducted in Goderich last weekend.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on August 6, 2021 a Huron County OPP officer observed a motorcycle being operated in the Town of Goderich without a licence plate. The officer followed after the motorcycle and a traffic stop was later conducted on Bennett Street East.   

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer learned the driver held a suspended driver’s licence, his motorcycle was not plated, nor was it insured. Further investigation revealed the motorcycle was deemed to be an unsafe vehicle. 

A 40-year-old resident of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was subsequently charged with: Driving While Under Suspension, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Plates, Drive Motor Vehicle – Improper Licence, Operate Unsafe Vehicle and Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway – No Insurance. A court date has been scheduled for September 21, 2021 at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Exeter

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus following a traffic stop this weekend in Exeter.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. on August 7, 2021 Huron OPP members received a call to check on the occupants of a vehicle parked at a parking lot in Exeter.   

Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and soon after the vehicle was observed off of Main Street South. A traffic stop was initiated and a roadside test was administered with the driver. The driver registered a fail and was placed under arrest. 

The driver was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment and two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician. Both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Gary PEREIRA, 28 years of age, from London has been charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. A court date has been scheduled for September 27, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fire Investigation

(HURON TWP, ON) – On August 9, 2021 at 2:34 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a fire at a property along Boiler Beach Road in Huron Township. Officers responded with members of the Kincardine Fire & Emergency Services and Ripley-Huron Fire Department to find the structure was fully engulfed by flames.

The South Bruce OPP, the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshall (OFM) are continuing an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Investigators are interested in viewing any video surveillance in the area of the fire between 12:00 p.m. on August 8, 2021 and 6:00 a.m. on August 9, 2021.

There were no injuries reported at the scene of the fire.
