Sexual Assault In Exeter – ROBINSON Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – On December 1, 2021, Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an Exeter resident following a recent investigation into a sexual assault complaint at a premises in Exeter.

Rupert ROBINSON, 51 years of age from Exeter has been charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Exploitation
  • Indecent Act

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 10, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. 

Further details are prohibited from release due to a publication ban.

Brussels Line Drug Bust – Name Released

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with Impaired Operation & Possession of Fentanyl following a collision investigation that took place this past weekend.

On Saturday, December 4, 2021 at approximately 7:47 a.m. Huron OPP members responded to a single motor vehicle collision located north of Brussels on Brussels Line. Upon arrival officers located the driver and passenger outside of the rolled over car. Fortunately for both occupants they were uninjured, however, when speaking to the driver the investigating officer observed the driver to be displaying signs of impairment.

As such a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly. As a result he was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Teviotdale OPP detachment for further testing. A Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE) was conducted and the driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug. 

A search incident to arrest also revealed the driver was in possession of a quantity of suspected Fentanyl. 

Mitchell COCKWELL, 35 years of age, from Kitchener has been charged with Impaired Operation & Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 24, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Second Degree Murder – 17 Year Old Victim

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On December 7, 2021, members of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service and the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), arrested a resident of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation in connection with a death that occurred on June 27, 2021.

 Tristan GROSBECK, 25-years-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged with Second Degree Murder under section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. The accused was held in custody for a scheduled court appearance on December 8, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice in London.

 On June 27, 2021, emergency services responded to a report of a disturbance at a Switzer Drive address located at Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Two people were transported to hospital, where 17-year-old Wayne Donald GROSBECK of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, was pronounced deceased.

 The investigation was conducted in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Drunk Driver Arrested Going To Goderich – BOEL

(GODERICH, ON) – A traffic stop in Goderich earlier this week has led to an arrest and charges against an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident.

On Monday, December 6, 2021 at about 7:07 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a possible impaired driver travelling into Goderich. Shortly after an OPP officer parked at the north end of Goderich spotted the suspect vehicle travelling into Goderich. The officer followed the suspect vehicle a short distance and a traffic stop was initiated.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed signs that the driver was impaired by alcohol. As such the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Richard BOEL, 67 years of age, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 17, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment continue to investigate a fatal single motor vehicle collision and have identified the driver as 22-year-old Meagan Janelle BYERS of Mount Forest.

On December 6, 2021, approximately 6:55 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment, along with Wellington North and Centre Wellington Fire and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Side Road 3 West in Wellington North Township.

It was determined that a Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) was travelling on Side Rd. 3 when it collided with the guardrail before leaving the roadway and became partially submerged in a body of water. The vehicle was removed from the water and the driver was located inside and later pronounced deceased.

Wellington County OPP with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) and Technical Collision Investigation (T.C.I.) continue to investigate the collision. Side Road 3 West between Wellington Road 6 and Side Road 2 West was closed for the investigation and has since reopened.

Joseph CLUETT Arrested Again – 15 Charges

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – A break and enter and two vehicle thefts resulted in a Huron East resident facing 15 charges, after a series of events in Perth County last month.

On November 19 2021, just after 12:30 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter that had occurred at a residence on St. George Street, in Mitchell. Suspect(s) had entered the residence and stole tools, medications, collectables, electronics, and bank cards. The suspect(s) had also stolen the homeowner’s vehicle from the driveway.

The vehicle was later recovered by police at an address in Huron County, but the other stolen property was not located. Through the investigation, police were able to identify suspects.

On November 23 2021, after 10:00 p.m., police were called to a suspicious person and vehicle on Barber Avenue North, in Listowel. Police attended a residence and located a wanted person, who was in possession of another vehicle that was stolen from Hamilton area. That same vehicle had failed to stop for police a few hours earlier in Howick Township, and was seen fleeing towards North Perth.

Joseph CLUETT, 26, of Huron East, has been arrested and charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 (three counts)

–       Possession of a Credit Card

–       Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code (two counts)

–       Failure to Comply with Release Order (two counts)

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order (six counts)

–       Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON) On December 5, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Sykes Street South in the Town of Meaford.   

A motor vehicle entered the RIDE program and it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jonathon MYLES, 27 years-of-age, from Holland Landing with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and

·        Class G1 Licence Holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver, and

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused was released and must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 20, 2021.

The accused’s driver licence was automatically suspended for 30 days, and their vehicle was towed, and impounded for 7 days.

Hit & Run With Stolen Vehicle – YUNDT Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A driver who fled the scene of a collision in West Perth was arrested, and the vehicle they were driving was stolen.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call on November 30 2021, just before 11:30 a.m., for a collision that had just occurred on Perth Line 34 at Road 155 in the Municipality of West Perth. Two vehicles had collided at the intersection, and one driver fled the scene in a pick-up truck. The truck, which was towing a trailer, was located a short distance away, where the driver was arrested.

One person received minor injuries as a result of the collision.

The investigation revealed that both the pick-up truck and the trailer were reported stolen.

As a result, Barren YUNDT, 29, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (two counts)

–       Flight from Peace Officer

–       Fail to Remain

–       Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle

–       Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number

–       Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle

–       Disobey stop Sign – Fail to Stop

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

POINTON & SHEARER Arrested Again

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On December 2, 2021 at approximately 2 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Highway 6-21 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.   

A motor vehicle entered the RIDE program, and the driver was placed under arrest. The driver was then transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment. A passenger in the motor vehicle was also arrested.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Robert POINTON, 42 years-of-age, from Owen Sound with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired by drug

·        Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

·        Failure to comply with a release order

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Obstruct Peace Officer

Grey Bruce OPP have also charged Pauline SHEARER, 41-years-old, from South Bruce Peninsula with the following offences:

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Fail to comply with Probation Order

·        Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

Both parties were held for a bail hearing. They are scheduled to re-attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 30, 2021.

Fatal Collision – Submerged Driver Pronounced Deceased

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – Today at approximately 6:55 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment, along with Wellington North and Centre Wellington Fire and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Side Road 3 West in Wellington North Township.

41 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Another impaired driver has been taken off the roads, this time because of an observant police officer.

Just after 11:00 p.m., on November 27 2021, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol on Perth Line 36, in the Municipality of West Perth, when they observed a vehicle that was driving in a concerning manner.

A traffic stop was conducted, and during the course of the investigation, the officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol, and was impaired. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing

Mark VOCK, 41, of Woodstock, has been charged with:

–       Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–       Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

19 Year Old Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Another impaired driver has been arrested and charged after their car was located in the ditch.

A Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol on Line 55, in the Municipality of West Perth, just after 5:00 a.m., on November 27 2021, observed a vehicle in the ditch. Upon checking the well-being of the driver, the investigating officer determined that they had consumed alcohol, and were impaired. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing

Hannah BOERTIEN, 19, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–       Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–       Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Listowel Methamphetamine Bust

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person was charged after an investigation revealed they were in possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

On November 26, 2021, just before midnight, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol conducted a traffic investigation on Wallace Avenue North, Listowel. During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result, Rebecca ANTAYA, 35, of Cambridge, has been charged with:

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Speeding Drunk Driver Arrested

(PERTH EAST, ON) – An impaired driver was caught because they were racing more than 50km/h over the speed limit after they had been drinking.

A Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol on Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, just before 11:00 p.m., on November 26 2021, observed a vehicle that was travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was found to be travelling in excess of 54km/h over the speed limit.

During the course of the investigation, the investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing

Steven WASSING, 48, of Perth East, has been charged with:

–       Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed

–       Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 30-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

9 Search Warrants, 7 Arrested

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – On December 1, 2021, several branches of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS), including: the OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Regional Support Team (RST), OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), OSPS Drugs and Intelligence Unit, OSPS Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), and OSPS Community Response and Enforcement Unit (CORE), executed 9 search warrants in Owen Sound and Georgian Bluffs with an additional search warrant executed and the Town of Saugeen Shores on December 3, 2021. This comes after all member of OSPS and OPP initiated a joint forces investigation which lasted several months.

As a result of the investigation, seven individuals were arrested and are facing the following charges:

Andrew BARBER, 23 years-of-age, from Georgian Bluffs

·        Participation in a criminal organization

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Two counts of Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

·        Unauthorized possession of a weapon

·        Possession of a firearm knowing that a serial number has been tampered with

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Alexander BARBER, 25 years-of-age, of no fixed address

·        Participation in a criminal organization

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

·        Unauthorized possession of a weapon

·        Possession of a firearm knowing that a serial number has been tampered with

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

·        Two count of unauthorized possession of a firearm

Randal PALMER, 58-years-of-age, from Owen Sound

·        Participation in a criminal organization

Dylan RAYNHAM, 26-years-of-age, from Owen Sound

·        Participation in a criminal organization

·        Two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

·        Three counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon

·        Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Kelly WOOTTON, 45-years-of-age, from Georgian Bluffs

·        Participation in a criminal organization

·        Unauthorized possession of a weapon

At the conclusion of this investigation, officers seized 5 firearms, a quantity of ammunition, 3 prohibited weapons, a large quantity of suspected cocaine, other illicit drugs and Canadian currency. The combined value of the seized drugs and Canadian currency is approximately $65,000 dollars.

All parties were held in pending a bail hearing and were remanded into custody. All parties will appear again before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 6, 2021.
