(KINCARDINE, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has completed a motor vehicle collision investigation that was first reported to police on October 24, 2019.

On October 24, 2019 at 4:12 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a single vehicle collision involving a fire truck along Bruce Avenue in Kincardine. Officers arrived to find that the fire truck had left the roadway and rolled onto its side before coming to rest in the ditch. A passenger of the truck was taken to hospital, by ambulance, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the police investigation, 2 charges have been laid under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Michael MOORE, 54-years-old, of Kincardine has been charged with Careless Driving.

Mark STOPFORD, 33-years-old, of Kincardine has been charged with Fail to Properly Wear a Seatbelt.

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On January 9, 2020 at 7:14 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a fully engulfed house fire at Artemesia-Euphrasia Townline, east of Grey Road 13, Grey Highlands. At the scene OPP officers were able to account for two of the three occupants living in the home.

Grey Highlands Fire Department and Grey County Paramedics attended the scene. One of the two occupants, at the scene, was transported to hospital by an ambulance with serious injuries. A third occupant of residence is unaccounted for at this time.

On January 10, 2020 Grey Bruce OPP, along with OPP Forensic Identification Services, Grey Highlands Fire Department and Ontario Fire Marshal, returned to the scene of the structure fire and continued the fire investigation.

After a search of the burned residence, remains have been located. Ontario Coroner’s Office is now involved in the investigation. Grey Bruce OPP are waiting to after a post mortem examination before providing any identification.

On January 15, 2020 the fire scene was released by the Ontario Fire Marshal. Following a post mortem examination of the remains found within the burned out structure, they have been identified as human remains. Grey Bruce OPP continue to work with the Coroner to identify the human remains. The death is not considered suspicious.

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – At approximately 6:00 a.m. January 15, 2020, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stolen vehicle being tracked in the area of Concession 11, near Wellington Road 34, Puslinch. A white pick-up truck, stolen from the County of Haldimand, was being monitored by global positioning satellites and was suspected to be entering a horse track compound in the area.

The vehicle was located at the compound with a trailer attached to it that was loaded with a mini excavator and a skid steer. The suspect was standing next to the vehicle and when officers approached, the suspect re-entered the vehicle and attempted to flee. When the suspect became cornered they reversed the trailer into a cruiser causing significant damages. Officers were able to gain physical control of the suspect and remove them from the vehicle. Search incident to arrest uncovered a quantity of methamphetamine and stolen property including electronics and car rims. The trailer and excavating equipment were also confirmed to be stolen.

As a result of the investigation, Ryan Neal ELLERKER, 41-years-old of Haldimand, has been charged with Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon, Resist Arrest, Possession of Methamphetamine, four counts of Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, three counts of Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 and Suspended Driving. The accused was held for bail.

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On January 15, 2020 at approximately 10:30 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a public disturbance on the Main Street in Palmerston. It was reported that a person was kicking the side of a vehicle that was parked in front of a restaurant and creating a traffic hazard.

Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the restaurant and took keys from the table of a couple known to them and ran back outside. The owner of the vehicle blocked the driver’s door in an effort to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. The suspect proceeded to kick the side of the car creating three large dents. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was involved in an incident that occurred earlier that morning where the same victim’s purse was stolen.

Calesha Lynn LEE, 28-years-old of Minto has been charged with Mischief Over $5000 and Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was held for a Bail Hearing due to failure to sign release documents.

(PERTH EAST, ON) – During the day on January 15th 2020, unknown suspects entered a business on Line 86 near Dorking and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was at the business when the theft occurred.

Residents are reminded to lock their doors to their buildings and homes when not present, as well as to secure their vehicles when not in use.

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On the evening of January 14th, 2020, unknown suspects stole a white Ford F150 truck from a rural residence located on Line 47 north of Gads Hill.

The keys to the unlocked truck were left in the vehicle along with the owner’s wallet. A banking card belonging to the owner was used in London in the early morning hours. The truck was located later that day abandoned in Tavistock.

Police would like to remind owners to remove valuables from their vehicles and ensure it is locked when not in use. Never leave your keys in your vehicle.

(RIPLEY, ON) – On January 13, 2020, members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) executed a Search Warrant at a property along McGill Street in Ripley.

Police recovered a stolen vehicle at the scene, valued at $6,000.

(MEAFORD, ON) – On January 10, 2019 at 7:47 p.m. the owner of (white) car parked their vehicle in the parking lot of Dairy Queen at Sykes Street North, Meaford. After a short time inside they were alerted that there vehicle was sitting in the middle of the eastbound lane of Sykes Street North.

Grey Bruce OPP were dispatched to the location and began a collision investigation after observing damage to (white) car. Video evidence from a neighbouring business shows a (blue) truck backing into the car and rolling it into the roadway from its parked position.

OPP is asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the owner of the involved truck, (blue) Ford F150 extended cab or a vehicle similar to it.

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On December 26, 2019, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Peel Street East in the Hamlet of Alma. The officer observed a red sedan travelling above the posted 50 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 115 km/h.

As a result, Hugh David NEVIN, 18-years-old of Kitchener, has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on March 18, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On December 21, 2019, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was investigating a collision on Highway 6 near Maltby Road. The officer observed a grey sport utility vehicle approaching the collision scene travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

As a result, Jeremy Matchelle EDWARDS, 23-years-old of Kitchener, has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on March 4, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On December 22, 2019, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 16 near Highway 89. The officer observed a black pick-up truck travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

As a result, Elliot Matthew KAVANAGH, 34-years-old of Dundalk, has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on March 4, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Update: Located safe and sound

(MILDMAY, ON) – On January 11, 2020 at 2:18 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing person. Angelica WHITTAKER, 20-years-old, of Goderich was last seen at a residence along Elora Street in Mildmay on January 10, 2020 at 11:30 p.m.

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A traffic stop for speeding last night in Blyth has resulted in a criminal charge of Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus” against a Central Huron resident.

(GODERICH, ON) – Three Huron County residents are facing charges after police caught them in possession of stolen property from a break-in that occurred in Goderich at the end of December.

On December 27, 2019 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a report of a break, enter and theft that took place at a business located on West Street in the Town of Goderich. Several items were stolen including electronics and cash.

Investigators began working on the case and it wasn’t long before they were successful in identifying a suspect. On Thursday, January 9, 2020 members from the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Huron County OPP Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence located on Bennett Street East in the Town of Goderich.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized two stolen laptop computers, suspected methamphetamine and other suspected stolen property items.

Two accused were arrested yesterday and a third accused was arrested this afternoon.

Steven SLOTEGRAAF, 43 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of Methamphetamine and Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking.

Josi SCRUTON, 28 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Possession of Methamphetamine.

Christopher KURTH, 34 years of age from Clinton has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of Methamphetamine and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

All three accused have since been released from custody with court appearances scheduled for February 10, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
