40 Year Old From Listowel Caught Going 134 in an 80

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On May 15, 2020, at approximately 7:05 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 23 near the Fifth Line in the Town of Minto. The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 134 km/h.

Kheder AL HASSAN, 40-years-old of Listowel has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on August 19, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

First heat event of the season continues this week.

Temperatures will peak again to near the thirty degree mark in many areas today. While temperatures Thursday will continue to be above normal, they will be a little lower than today due to more cloud cover and perhaps an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon.

Humidex values in the mid to upper thirties will prevail again this afternoon.

A cold front will deliver considerably cooler and less humid air to Southern Ontario on Friday.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested – Walter SCHWEIGEL

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On May 24, 2020 at 12:25 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint at Bruce Street in Hepworth, ON involving a grey car being driven down the middle of the roadway in an aggressive manner, nearly causing a collision. Moments later, officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision, involving a grey car that had just driven into the ditch.

Several by-standers intervened and tried to offer assistance to the driver until Police arrived.

As a result of the investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Walter SCHWEIGEL, 58 years old from Toronto with:

Operation of motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Operation of motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

Resist a Peace Officer, section 129(a) CC

Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 16, 2020.

Hero Takes Down Plate Number Of Thief – Gary ELLIOTT Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with Theft & Possession of Stolen Property after he was caught stealing a Dixie Chopper riding lawn mower this past weekend.

On Saturday, May 23, 2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Huron County OPP responded to a Sawmill Road property where they spoke with the owner of the lawn mower. Police learned the lawn mower ran empty on gas so the victim left it unattended in a ditch on his property. The victim came back a short while later and noticed the machine missing.

Fortunately, an eye witness happened to come across the suspect as he was stealing the lawn mower. A licence plate of the suspect’s vehicle was obtained which proved to be helpful to the investigation. On May 24, 2020 officers executed a search warrant at a Central Huron property and successfully recovered the stolen lawn mower.

The accused was placed under arrest and taken into custody. Gary ELLIOTT, 50 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Theft Over $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 10, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Tasered In Exeter – Hayley STEWARD

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an Exeter resident with a number of offences, including a Resist Arrest charge, following an incident that took place in Exeter this past weekend.

On Sunday, May 24, 2020 Huron OPP officers responded to a Marlborough Street residence for a disturbance that was taking place on the front porch. Police were informed the accused was banging on the front door, yelling and was trying to get into the premise.

Minutes later an officer arrived and attempted to arrest the accused however she failed to comply with the officer’s instructions and continued to resist arrest. A conducted energy weapon (CEW) was utilized and ultimately the accused was taken into custody.

Hayley STEWARD, 26 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Resist Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts and Fail to Comply with Release Order – two counts. The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

24 Year Old From Owen Sound Arrested After Crashing Into Garage Door

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On May 22, 2020 at 7:44 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an all-terrain vehicle collision at Bruce Road 10, near Park Head. The driver had crashed into a garage door. The driver was arrested for being impaired while operating a motor vehicle and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton for a breath test.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jesse BOYD-CHEGANO, 24 years old of Owen Sound, with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 23, 2020.

Stunt Drivers Charged – PFLEGER, LALLY, RHODES, HALL & NG

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Between May 22nd and May 24th, 2020 on Highway 6, in South-Bruce Peninsula, five motorists were charged with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Karl PFLEGER, 63, of South Bruce Peninsula, ON was travelling over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) on a motorcycle in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Anureet LALLY, 19, of Brampton, ON was travelling over 140 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a car in a posted 80km/h zone.

Robin RHODES, 52, of Stratford, ON was travelling over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a Sport Utility Vehicle in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Parker HALL, 19, of Arran-Elderslie, ON was travelling over 140 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a truck, pulling a commercial trailer, in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Siu NG, 21, of Scarborough, ON was travelling over 145 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a car, in a posted 80 km/h zone.

All of these drivers were issued provincial summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

The Grey-Bruce OPP want to remind motorists that excessive speed in one of the leading causes of deaths on our highways.

Sexual Assault X5, Overcome Resistance By Drug X11, Sexual Assault With a Weapon

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid numerous criminal charges against a Goderich resident as a result of a sexual assault investigation that commenced this past weekend.

On Saturday, May 23, 2020 at approximately 12:44 a.m. Huron OPP members responded to a Gibbons Street residence to assist a victim that had dialed 9-1-1.

Ultimately the accused was arrested and taken into custody. A comprehensive investigation has resulted in numerous charges being laid against the accused.

A 30-year-old Goderich resident has been charged with the following offences:

Sexual Assault – Five counts

Sexual Assault with a Weapon

Forcible Confinement

Overcome Resistance by Administering a Drug – 11 counts

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich at a later date to answer to the charges.

Teen Sexually Assaulted In Listowel – 30 Year Old Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a charge in relation to an incident that occurred in the Municipality of North Perth on May 14 2020.

Police were called to an address on Barber Avenue North, Listowel, shortly before 8:00 a.m. by the 16 year old victim, who reported that a sexual assault had occurred. Police conducted an investigation, and one person is now facing charges.

As a result, a 30 year old resident of North Perth has been arrested and charged with:

Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

Sexual Assault

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Repeat Offender Arrested After Struggle

(HURON TWP, ON) – On May 25, 2020 at 8:22 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break-in at a residence in the 900 block of Concession 12 in Huron Township. Officers arrived and located the suspect who was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Dale CONANT, 41-years-old, of Kincardine was charged with Break and Enter, Possess a Controlled Substance, Possess Break-In Instruments, 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance and Fail to Comply with Probation. The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for May 26, 2020.

Driver Charged Following Fatal Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF ERIN, ON) – On January 5, 2020, at approximately 6:25 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and the Town of Erin Fire Services responded to a serious two-motor vehicle collision on Trafalgar Road near Side Road 17 in the Town of Erin.

Investigation revealed that a southbound sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided head-on with a northbound sedan. The driver of the sedan, Jayson Alexander WADDELL, 36-years-old of Caledon was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Ishaka Simran Parvini MAHARAJ, 19-years-old of Barrie has been charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Death contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 31, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Methamphetamine Bust In Goderich – Perry BAKKER

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident will be making a trip to court this summer after he was caught this past weekend in possession of some illegal drugs.

On Friday, May 22, 2020 at approximately 7:47 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling on Victoria Street in Goderich when he observed a known wanted male out walking. The officer stopped the male and informed him that he was wanted for an outstanding breach of probation offence. An arrest was conducted and a search incident to arrest revealed the accused to be in possession of some illegal drugs.

Perry BAKKER, 34 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, Fentanyl and Hydromorphone, Fail to Comply with a Release Order and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order.

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 17, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Rolls Vehicle – Jakob WEBB

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus following a motor vehicle crash investigation that took place this weekend.

On Sunday, May 24, 2020 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Huron OPP officers responded to the intersection of Sharpe’s Creek Line & Maitland Line to investigate a single motor vehicle rollover crash. Upon connecting with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking some alcohol so a roadside screening test was conducted. The driver complied with the demand and his test resulted in a fail.

He was placed under arrest and was subsequently transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were measured to be above the legal limit.

Jakob WEBB, 23 years of age, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for July 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. His vehicle has been impounded and his licence has been suspended for 90 days.

Assault In Listowel – Repeat Offender Arrested – Shane DUPUIS

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing a number of charges after a dispute at a Listowel residence.

Shortly after midnight on May 21 2020, The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an apartment on Elizabeth Street East, in the Municipality of North Perth. During the investigation, it was learned that an assault had occurred between two visitors to the apartment, and the suspect was also breaching conditions. The suspect had fled the apartment, but was located and arrested a short time later.

As a result, Shane DUPUIS, 30, of North Perth, was arrested and charged with:

Assault

Fail to Comply with Release Order (three counts)

The accused was held for a bail hearing on May 21 2020.

Drunk Driver Picking Up Suspended Driver Arrested – Nyakim BICHIOK

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On May 23, 2020 at 10:40 p.m. officers from Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle travelling on Dundas St. in the Municipality of Thames Centre, with no rear lights illuminated. During the traffic stop police learned that the driver’s licence was currently suspended. The driver was issued a Summons to appear in court for July 7, 2020 to speak to the charges and arrangements were made by the driver for a ride home.

When the arranged driver arrived on scene to pick up the male, police soon learned that the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle may have been impaired. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the London OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Nyakim BICHIOK, -age 32- of London, ON with:

CC 320.14(1)(b) Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

HTA 44.1(3) Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The vehicle was impounded accused was released from police custody and scheduled to appear in a London court room on June 22, 2020 to speak to the charges.
