(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Two individuals are facing multiple drug‑related charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a significant quantity of suspected drugs during an investigation in Gravenhurst.
During the winter months of 2025 and 2026, the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) initiated an investigation into the distribution of illicit drugs throughout the Almaguin Highlands and Muskoka areas.
On Tuesday February 10, 2026, at approximately 11:00 am, officers located a vehicle associated with the investigation parked at a plaza on Muskoka Road South in Gravenhurst. Officers approached the vehicle and arrested the two occupants.
A search of the vehicle was conducted, resulting in the seizure of approximately 1.5 kg of suspected fentanyl with an approximate street value of $295,000, 6 kg of suspected amphetamine tablets valued at approximately $75,000, 66 grams of suspected cocaine valued at approximately $6,600, as well as $1,070 in Canadian currency, three cell phones, and a digital scale.
As a result of the investigation, James LEE, 60 years old, of Bolton, has been charged with:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – amphetamine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Cynthia SHEFFIELD, 43 years old, of Huntsville, has been charged with:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – amphetamine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
Both accused were held for bail and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 11, 2026
