51 Year Old From Mount Forest Arrested – Details Released

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) – As a result of a shoplifting investigation, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against a Mount Forest resident. 

On March 1, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to reports of thefts from two retailers on Main Street North, Mount Forest. It was reported that an individual had shoplifted approximately $80 in groceries from one store and approximately $250 in electronic items from the second store.

George Hammill, 51-years-old of Mount Forest, has been charged with two counts of Theft Under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code. He was held pending a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, at a later date.
