The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a robbery early this month.
On May 2, 2014 a Chatham man attended the CIBC bank on Richmond Street in Chatham to deposit money. While there, a Raleigh Township man, known to him, approached him for a cigarette. As the man took cigarettes out of his pocket, he also withdrew the envelope containing the cash to be deposited. The Raleigh Township man slapped his hand causing the money to fall to the ground. The Raleigh Township man then pushed the Chatham man, picked up the money, and rode away on the man’s bicycle. The 29-year-old Chatham man was not injured during the incident.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the 32-year-old Raleigh Township man in the area of Prince Street and Kirk Street in Chatham and he was arrested. He has been charged with robbery. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
