On Thursday June 5, 2014 at 9:55 pm a black 2003 Buick Rendezvous motor vehicle with three 20 year old Cambridge males was southbound on West River Road in Cambridge when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle sheered off an electrical pole and then flipped onto its side striking a tree. The vehicle came to rest on the front lawn of a nearby residence. All three occupants were transported by ambulance to a local hospital. One passenger was transferred to a Hamilton hospital with spinal injuries. A second vehicle, a red 2004 Chrysler Intrepid drove into the downed utility pole in the darkness. The driver, a 19 year old Cambridge male, was briefly trapped in his vehicle by the downed powerlines. He was uninjured and damage to his vehicle was minor. The driver was charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm and released with a court date. Waterloo Regional Police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision.
