At approximately 8:30pm on Saturday evening the police were called to attend the area of Mapleview Drive West and Essa Road regarding a car accident. Upon arrival the officers discovered that a 29 year old Barrie resident had been operating his vehicle at speeds of approximately 140kmh in the area of Mapleview Drive West and Veterans Drive continuing to the intersection of Essa Rd. where he lost control and struck a concrete median. The vehicle came to rest in the eastbound lanes. There was extensive damage to the involved vehicle, luckily no other vehicles were struck and no injuries were incurred. The male later refused to provide a breath sample as alcohol was a definite factor in this incident. The male was charged with dangerous driving and refuse to provide a breath sample.
