Occurrence #: BA14026287
Date: Saturday, June 7, 2014 – 7:30pm
On the 7th of June 2014 at approximately 7:30 pm, Barrie Police Service were called to a motor vehicle collision on Anne Street between Essa Road and Adelaide Street. A yellow Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by a lone male, who had consumed more than double the legal limit of Alcohol was traveling southbound on Anne Street and stopped for the lights at Essa Road. When the light turned green, he decided to gun the accelerator crossing over the middle line narrowly missing a northbound vehicle striking the curb hard enough to get the truck up into the air. While airborne the passenger tire of the truck struck an unoccupied parked Toyota Yaris in the front hood area, rolling onto the windshield crushing the glass and peeling the roof off the parked car, causing the pickup truck to roll over onto its roof. The force of the impact moved the parked vehicle back approximately 5 metres.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital where he was treated for his minor injuries and then later placed into police custody and charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, Over 80 and Dangerous Driving.
