Fahad HANIF Arrested Following Collision

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual involved in a collision with numerous offences.

On March 19, 2024, just before 12:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Mayfield Road, near Kennedy Road, in the Town of Caledon. One driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries. During the course of the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Fahad HANIF, 31, of Brampton, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 4, 2024, to answer to the charges. Additionally, the driver’s vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver’s licence suspended for a period of 90 days.

The OPP remains committed to keeping our communities safe through enforcement and public education. Penalties for failure or refusal to comply with demand are the same as those imposed upon a driver charged with impaired operation. These penalties include an immediate 90-day licence suspension, seven-day vehicle impoundment, as well as licence reinstatement fees. Additional penalties are imposed upon conviction and increase for each proceeding offence.
