2 More Drunk Drivers Arrested – Erica LEO & Michael ROCHON

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recently charged two individuals with operation while impaired.

On March 22, 2024, shortly after 12:00 p.m., Caledon OPP received a report from a motorist expressing concern as to how a motor vehicle was being operated. Officers located the vehicle stopped in the area of Highway 10 and King Street, in the Town of Caledon. Officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Michael ROCHON, 36, of Keene, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on March 25, 2024, to answer to the charges.

On March 23, 2024, shortly after 4:30 p.m., Caledon OPP received a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Commercial Road, near Albion Vaughan Road, in the Town of Caledon. During the course of the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Following the investigation, Erica LEO, 28, of Minesing, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 11, 2024, to answer to the charge.

Both driver’s vehicles were impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver’s licences were suspended for a period of 90 days.

Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads. Whether a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired, and impaired driving is dangerous regardless of the source of impairment.
