19 Year Old Arrested – Name & Details Released

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – A young driver is facing charges after failing the Approved Screening Device (ASD) in Huron County.

On March 23, 2024, at 4:48 p.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Summer Hill Road in Central Huron. While the officers were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver provided a sample of breath into an ASD which registered a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the Huron County OPP Detachment for further tests by a Qualified Breath Technician.

Kalan Geddes, 19-years-old of Huron County was charged with:

·    Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·    Young driver – B..C above zero

·    Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on April 22, 2024.

The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. Young, novice and commercial drivers are reminded that under Ontario’s zero tolerance law, these driver classes cannot have any alcohol in their system.
