(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Residents and business owners have seen an increased police presence in the Town of Exeter, South Huron while the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with an ongoing police investigation.
John Street and Main Street South had sections that were closed to the public.
Due to the location of the police incident, businesses and residences located between Sanders Street and Anne Street were evacuated to allow police to operate safely.
An evacuation centre was established at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter.
Police have now cleared the area and have re-opened all roadways previously closed.
The OPP would like to thank business owners, residents, and the Municipality of South Huron, South Huron Fire Department, and the Huron East Fire Department for their assistance and patience in this matter.
The investigation is still ongoing, and updates will be shared by the OPP as they become available.
