Fatal Collision Update - Name Of 21 Year Old Deceased Released

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) - The Middlesex and Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Melbourne Road north of Duff line in Southwest Middlesex, Ontario around 6:00 p.m. on November 12, 2019.
A cargo van was driving northbound on Melbourne Road, over the Thames River Bridge and a pickup truck was driving southbound when contact was made between the two vehicles.
The cargo van then veered off the roadway and rolled into the ditch area. Emergency Medical Services and Fire Services attended the scene of the collision.
The driver of the cargo van, 21-year-old Trevor WINTJES of Chatham, Ontario was pronounced deceased as a result of the collision. The driver of the pickup truck was physically uninjured.
The OPP's Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) had the road closed for numerous hours to complete a further investigation. The roadway has since been reopened.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
