OPP Conducting Death Investigation

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) - On August 10, 2019, at 4:15 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Bruce County Paramedic Services were called to a residence at French Bay Road, Saugeen First Nation for a 24-year-old female with vital signs absent.

Early investigation has determined that the female had experienced an apparent opioid overdose and was administered Naloxone prior to the arrival of emergency responders. She was subsequently transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Members of the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Gaynor of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) continue to thoroughly investigate this isolated incident, and no risks to public safety have been identified.

The OPP is focused on maintaining public safety, respecting the victim and family members, and protecting the integrity of the investigative process during criminal investigations.
