(HURON EAST, ON) - An early morning traffic stop on Sunday has led to a criminal charge against a driver from Morris-Turnberry.
At approximately 1:14 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint about a possible impaired driver spotted on Line 42 in West Perth. Officers immediately began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and not long after the vehicle was observed travelling northbound on North Line at Winthrop Road.
A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed signs the driver had been drinking. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and was promptly transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.
Jody MACHAN, 35 years of age, from Morris-Turnberry has been charged with Impaired Operation - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 2, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
