SIU Invokes Mandate

(RIPLEY, ON) - On January 6, 2020 at 8:05 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment received a report of an intoxicated person causing property damage and disturbance in the town of Ripley.

Witnesses detained the individual until officers arrived and took custody. Amen SAUNDERS, 21-years-old of Kincardine, Ontario was charged with:
Cause Disturbance,
Utter Threats (two counts),
Resist Peace Officer,
Assault Police (two counts),
Breach Probation (four counts), and with
Breach of Recognizance.

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled on January 7, 2020.

The accused was later transported to hospital for medical assessment for a reported injury. The OPP has notified the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate.
