27 Year Old Driver Facing Impaired By Drug Charge

(MONKTON, ON) - On August 31, 2019 at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Perth detachment responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver in Monkton. Witnesses contacted police after observing a motor vehicle swerving in its lane.

Officers responded quickly and located the motor vehicle. In speaking with the male driver, it was determined that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

Jonathon CWIERDZINSKI, 27-years-old, of Huron Kinloss was arrested and charged with;

Operation while impaired - drug
Failure or refusal to comply with demand


The male is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on September 9, 2019 to answer the charges.

The male driver had his driver's licence seized and a 90 Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) was imposed. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded by statute. - 30 -

"People impaired by a drug are not safe drivers because of the effects that drugs have on the body. Drivers that are impaired by alcohol or drugs put everyone at risk including others on the road, pedestrians and their own passengers."
