Court Rules Municipality Responsible For Boulevards, Sidewalks & Roads - North Huron Rejects Ruling & To Spend $200,000+ To Fight All The Way To the Supreme Court Of Canada

A ruling in the case of Bongiardina v. Vaughan (City) clearly declared that a Municipality can not transfer liability or responsibility of sidewalks, boulevards or roads to a private citizen. North Huron disagrees with this Court Of Appeal For Ontario decision, and is apparently willing to spend $200,000+ in legal fees to challenge it in the Supreme Court Of Canada. This will be to prove a Municipality doesnt have to maintain its infrastructure as prescribed in the Ontario Municipal Act.

It has already been proven in Ontario courts that a Municipality must maintain all their roads, sidewalks and boulevards. For North Huron to change this, they must take a case past the Court Of Appeal For Ontario all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada, an extremely costly endeavor.

North Huron council is apparently budgeting $200,000+ in legal fees to go to the Supreme Court of Canada so they dont have to confront town staff regarding the neglect of infrastructure, and gross negligence by endangering Citizens by purposely blocking sidewalks in the winter.
