(NORTH PERTH, ON) - Stunt drivers are failing to get the message.

On February 1, 2019, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North Perth Detachment was out actively and purposefully reducing the amount of distracted and inattentive drivers. A vehicle was found to be travelling in excess of fifty kilometres over the posted speed limit on Line 86, east of Listowel and was stopped by Police.

Cody WARD, 18-years-old, of the Township of Howick was charged with Race a motor vehicle-excessive speed.

The driver had a 7 day licence suspension imposed and the motor vehicle they were driving was towed for a 7 day impoundment.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on February 26, 2019 to speak to the charge.

Irresponsible driving behaviour will not be tolerated and has no place on the roadway. Drivers who choose to operate a motor vehicle at an excessive speed pose a serious risk to public safety.

Report dangerous driving behaviour immediately to police by calling 1-888-301-1122. In an emergency, pull over and dial 9-1-1.
